Job Description
FLSA: Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper state certification
REPORTS TO: Director of Instruction
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10month employee. Work days according to board approved
school calendar.
Primary Function: The freshman seminar teacher will teach the Freshman Seminar Courses that will equip incoming freshmen with the skills necessary for a successful transition from middle school to high school. Students enrolled in this course will be taught strategies on success skills for effective time management study skills goal setting organizational techniques communication skills critical thinking and problem solving skills personal qualities (responsibility selfesteem selfmanagement and integrity) and technological skills that will aid them on their path to graduation.
Responsibilities: Teach freshman seminar courses using prescribed curriculum. Provides strategies implements programs/practices and delivers instruction for improving student achievement classroom organization and management of real world success skills consistent with curriculum. Promotes and supports professionalism and continuous professional current on instructional/transitional best leadership and other meetings for the purpose of networking enhancing partnerships and providing experiential learning opportunities for students.
