Supply Chain Officer (CBT and retail markets) in Regional Bureau (RB) in Johannesburg will oversee the following detail responsibilities under direct supervision of Senior Supply Chain officer in RB:
ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all inclusive within the delegated authority):
Provide technical inputs to the secondgeneration Country Strategic Plans in the areas of cashbased transfers and retail and markets activities.
First line of support for MFIs (Market Functionality Index) Emergencies and Market Diagnostics to the country offices.
Advise and review effectiveness of CBT implementation and business processes in countries.
Advise market development feasibility in new emerging areas of WFPs intervention where applicable.
Coordinate and communicate with other units in RBJ on CBT topics represent in the regional CBT Working Groups and be a focal point to HQ SCOTSupply Chain CBT and Markets to ensure dissemination of information and guidelines crosscuttingly.
Training COs on new tools manuals processes and provision of guidelines and support as necessary. Train and promote to COs and RBJ for the use of dashboards and digital tools (Retailers onboarding contracts MDCA etc. to identify trends anomalies and review results.
Analyse food system contexts from expertise on commercial markets and propose a market development plan or framework for interventions in consultation with relevant stakeholders aligned with the overall regional supply chain and food systems approach. This includes identifying core themes key issues to be addressed and developing concepts and maintaining a dynamic portfolio of interventions.
Support positioning and / or strengthening CO SC in the implementation of food system interventions as part of their Country Strategy Plans (CSPs) through identifying solutions to food system constraints identified and facilitate initiatives that strengthen small holders farmers access to markets.
Assess levels of staffing for CBT and maintain a list of CBT focal points in Country Offices trained staff and TDYs.
Any other duties as required by the RBJ SC unit.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: Advanced University degree preferably in Supply Chain Management Engineering Economics Business Administration Logistics or other related field or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.
Experience:
Minimum 6 years of professional experience. Previous experience in retail distribution and/or manufacture is an advantage
Demonstrated experience as SC technical expert in Cash Based transfer models understanding regional and local contexts and complexities.
Desirable experience evaluating and overseeing selection of service providers and/or suppliers.
Desirable experience in overseeing corrective actions to improve performance and monitoring progress.
Experience in working for an international organization.
Working experience in the UN system is desirable.
Knowledge & Skills:
Indepth expertise and application of reviewing local markets for its functionality and potential development.
Lead and assist the design of retail supply chain strategies in developing countries. Persuasive communication skills.
Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English.
Ability to travel:
Mainly within countries in the assigned region and others as required.
