We are searching for a permanent fulltime Manager of Recreation and Volunteer Services to join our Miramichi team working primarily out of Bridgeview Hall based in Miramichi New Brunswick.

About the Opportunity
- Supervises and evaluates the recreation department which includes work assignments training disciplinary procedures and performance evaluation;
- Oversees the training education supervision and evaluation of volunteers and student placements;
- Collaborates with each resident and/or family to assess their engagement of meaningful activities in the six dimensions of wellness Physical Social Intellectual Vocational Emotional and Spiritual;
- Assists each resident in achieving their goals to enhance their overall wellness and assist with defining strategies for achieving those goals;
- Develops analyzes and reviews residentdirected individualized and communitywide programs;
- Fosters partnerships with local businesses and community groups to facilitate program development;
- Evaluates programming to ensure that the programs are meeting the residents needs and expectations along with upholding the established expectations;
- Oversees the process of orientation for each new resident to the recreation department services offered and activities/amenities available to them;
- Oversees Recreation services for special functions ensuring organization cost efficiency & appropriate staffing;
- Promotes a safety culture by continuously working safely including but not limited to identifying and reporting hazards following safe work practices and procedures wearing personal protective equipment supporting others to work safely and completing safety education.
About You
In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement collaboration and accountability you bring:
- A diploma or degree in therapeutic recreation or a related discipline;
- Proof of current valid CPR and First Aid or BLS Certification (required);
- You are an energetic compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly and has experience in programming and planning for seniors in a recreational environment;
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written as well as strong computer skills;
- Ability to provide a clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check upon hire;
- Ability to work flexible hours and shifts (including some weekends and evenings);
- Advanced proficiency in the English language is required proficiency in French considered an asset;
- Food Safety or Food Handlers certificate is an asset;
- Possession of a Class 4 Drivers License is an asset;
- A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations services and care.
