Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To enhance the knowledge and skills of district staff as they implement a studentlearning framework that will focus on rigorous instruction emotional intelligence and competitive job skills for students with disabilities; to provide expertise in assessment and programming for children and youth with serious behavioral disorders; to promote a positive working relationship among and between staff and the schools by establishing a climate conducive to open communication and productive work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor Degree in Psychology or related field required

Master Degree in School Psychology required

Licensed Specialist in School Psychology as required by the Texas State Board Examiners required

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Communicate effectively (verbal and written); understand needs of and programs for students with disabilities; utilize interpersonal skills; plan organize and coordinate districtwide services able to administer and interpret assessments in English/Spanish preferred

Experience:

Minimum of two 2 years of supervised professional experience in a school setting after degree required

Three 3 years teaching experience preferred

Working Days: 207

Daily Rate pay range:

Minimum: $334.53

Maximum: $466.73

Note:Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each persons jobrelated experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Interprets evaluation results to school personnel parents and outside agencies as appropriate.
  1. Demonstrates knowledge of RTI process analyze/review student folders for possible special education evaluation.
  1. Includes academic functional and behavioral based recommendations in evaluation reports.
  1. Complies with local and deferral mandated timelines for all evaluations and Admission Review and Dismissal Committee meetings.
  1. Assists in the dissemination of local state and federal regulations with regards to special education guidelines.
  1. Assist in providing training/support for online ARD managing program.
  1. Displays knowledge of Procedural Safeguards and Admission Review and Dismissal Guide.
  1. Provides direct psychological supports and maintains records of supports.
  1. Serves as a liaison for the special education department by interpreting recommending and organizing services needed for the student.
  1. Maintains and submits completed PEIMS data according to district timeline.
  1. Conducts full and individual evaluations as well as psychological evaluations.
  1. Provides support and/or recommendations related to behavior.
  1. Demonstrates personal and professional growth by attending inservice meetings workshops and conferences.
  1. Disseminates ideas and information to other professionals and the community through written materials by conducting inservices and through contact with outside agencies.
  1. Effectively participates in ARD meetings parent conferences transition meetings and other related meetings.
  1. Assists school personnel and parents in planning and implementing the Individual Education Plan.
  1. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
  1. Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).
