Job Description
The Somerville Community Schools Program provides After School and Out of School Time Care in the Somerville Public Schools. We operate After School programs from dismissal until end of program including early release days; full day programs during school vacation weeks and during summer. It is our mission to provide high quality affordable Out of School Time Care to Somerville children in grades PreK through 8
Substitutes will lead an academic/homework block enrichment block and free block between 2:35pm 1:45 PreK) and 5:30 or 1:00 12:00 PreK) and 5:30 on early release day under the direction of the SiteDirector or AssistantSite Director The substitute may also assist a lead teacher or support students individually if needed.
Qualifications
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent; and at least one year experience working with school age children including three months supervised experience with a school age children
Responsibilities
Teaching
- Lead small and large group activities by following the curriculum provided by Site Coordinator
- Follow Lead Teachers daily schedule
- Travel to multiple sites as needed depending where a substitute is needed
- Supervise and interact with children in a positive supportive manner
- Assist in maintaining a relaxed supportive atmosphere in the classroom
- Discipline children in accordance with Community Schools Staff Handbook
- Follow program health and safety procedures as stated in Staff Handbook
- Assist in maintaining classroom environment including daily set up and clean up
- Build positive relationships with families and coworkers
- Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization
- Other duties as assigned
Terms of Employment
Part Time
Scheduled School Year (September June)
Up to 18.75 works per week (hours willy vary on a week to week basis)
Salary: $21 per hour worked
