Qualifications:
- Masters degree
- Full approval in at least one area of Special Education
- Three years of successful experience in Special Education
- Fulfill the requirements of Special Education Rules
- Driving may be necessary for this position which would require a valid drivers license
General Description:
Perform in an administrative supervisory or consultative capacity for the instructional phases of specific areas of special education.
Essential Functions:
- Supervise the general operation of DickinsonIron Intermediate School District Special Education Classrooms 11 classrooms).
- Evaluate Special Education classroom programs and staff.
- Serve as a liaison between DickinsonIron Intermediate School District parents and other agencies.
- Assist the Director of Special Education.
- Evaluate Intermediate School District classroom teachers and aides in accordance with contract obligations and established procedures.
- Coordinate ancillary services as they relate to classroom programs.
- Develop and maintain classroom program evaluations.
- Maintain communication with LEAs who have students in ISD classrooms.
- Schedule and represent administration at IEP Team meetings for ISD Programs (over 110.
- Establish maintain and monitor student records to conform to the requirements of the Department of Education.
- Chair Evaluation Reviews for ISD classroom students.
- Assist in obtaining approved student evaluations from other agencies.
- Assure that each disabled student is served in the least restrictive environment and provided appropriate transportation services.
- Develop a positive public opinion of disabled students and special education programs and services.
- Coordinate transportation needs in conjunction with the transportation supervisor.
- Assist the Director regarding classroom operations supplies facilities and maintenance.
- Assisting in the planning and conducting of inservice education programs.
- Providing consultative services to the entire staff of the district and others concerning the instructional phases of specific areas of special education.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
- Responsible for completing all necessary paperwork in a timely fashion.
- Supervise transition program.
- Oversee placement for substitute instructional staff.
- Conduct Autism Specialist services within ISD.
- Serve as the MI Access Coordinator for the district.
- Coordinate Pupil Accounting Activities for Special Education
- Serve as the Early Childhood Specialist for the Great Start Readiness Program
- Must have regular and reliable attendance.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a positive role model for DIISD constituents demonstrating how to be a responsible citizen and productive member of society.
- Adhere to DIISD Code of Ethics.
- Ability to carry out other associated duties as assigned by administration
Additional Working Conditions:
- Occasional exposure to blood bodily fluid and tissue.
- With reimbursement may be required to use personal vehicle to perform job related functions.
