Primary Responsibilities
St. Lawrence University invites applications for a oneyear Visiting Assistant Professor position in Film & Francophone Studies with a specialization in any nonEuropean francophone area and the ability to teach all levels of French language. This position has the potential to be renewed for additional year(s) . The successful candidate will teach 3 courses per semester including French language courses topics in Francophone cinema in both English and French as well as Introduction to Film Studies to support St. Lawrences interdisciplinary program in Digital Media & Film. We are especially interested in candidates with a focus on the critical study of gender sexuality and race in cinematic representation and a commitment to exploring the changing meaning and function of cinema in relation to emerging digital technologies. The position is a dual appointment between the new program in Digital Media & Film and the Department of World Languages Cultures and Media. Ph.D. is required at the time of appointment. Native or nearnative fluency in French. Experience teaching French language and Francophone cinema at the undergraduate level.
Preferred Qualifications
Specialization in Francophone (nonEuropean) cinema. Interdisciplinary approaches to teaching film and media studies.
