JOB TITLE:
Post Doctoral Research Associate Speech Imaging Laboratory
JOB PURPOSE:
The University of Wyoming Speech Imaging Laboratory (PI: Katelyn Kotlarek) is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to join our research team. The labs projects focus on understanding the anatomical and physiological underpinnings of typical and atypical speech development in children with cleft palate with the goal of improving early outcomes. This postdoc will work on an NIHfunded research project 1R21DCin addition to other ongoing projects in the lab. The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to develop and pursue an independent research program through grant applications as well as to participate in a leadership role coordinating research activities and supervising team members. This is a University of Wyoming and NIH grant funded position. Funding for this position is guaranteed for 1 year with the option to extend for an additional year. Research represents 100 effort for this position. Opportunities to gain teaching and/or clinical experience may be explored based on applicant interest but are not required components of this position. Start date is anticipated August 25 2025.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop new ideas research methodologies and analytic approaches to the labs research programs
- Conduct experiments and analyses using anatomical MRI data and speech and language recordings of infants and toddlers with cleft palate both at the University of Wyoming and Childrens Hospital Colorado
- Help write grants and compete for funding
- Supervise and train students and research staff working in the lab
- Help write and contribute to publications resulting from research done in the lab
- Assist project management of NIH grants
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD in communication sciences and disorders psychology linguistics rehabilitation sciences neuroscience biomedical sciences or a related field. ABD status will be considered.
- Interest in research on craniofacial differences
- Evidence of peerreviewed publications
- Strong oral and written communication and statistical analytic skills
- Valid drivers license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Research training in craniofacial differences imaging speech acquisition speech sound production and/or phonological development
- Clinical training as a speechlanguage pathologist in the area(s) of craniofacial care early intervention and/or phonological disorders
- Experience writing and submitting NIH grants
- Experience with human subjects research
- Ability to lead a team of student researchers
- Evidence of project development
