Sr Software Development Engineer AWS Fraud Prevention Engineering Team

AWS Fraud Prevention is responsible for protecting AWS and its customers from the costs inconvenience and damage associated with fraud (e.g. financial loss service unavailability). We are responsible for preventing fraudulent access to AWS via the signup process detecting fraudulent or compromised accounts by monitoring behaviors containing risky accounts by limiting access to service resources investigating suspicious accounts and remediating fraud by partnering with AWS service teams to clean up fraudulent resources and recover capacity. We are looking for a motivated and experienced Software Development Engineer who wants to challenge themselves by building solutions using the latest tech in distributed systems at scale to catch the bad actors who are out there. We are at the forefront of protecting AWS (i.e. all AWS services) and its customers from fraud and compromise attacks. To prevent fraud we are building our next generation Fraud Prevention Platform that is extensible configurable and massively scalable. You will work closely with machine learning research scientists to design next generation fraud and compromise prevention systems utilizing the state of the art in machine learning streaming data processing and aggregation graph databases and serverless solutions. Your work will have a direct impact on AWS cloud products and all our customers. You will work in a quickly evolving environment in a business that needs to rapidly adapt to changing fraud patterns. Key job responsibilities
As a senior SDE you will operate as a technical leader within the team and will own a large part of the overall architecture. You will also influence the technical direction of your team and will serve as a guide and mentor to the junior engineers. This is a great opportunity to tackle some very interesting and complex problems innovate in the space and drive product direction. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely (both written and orally) and work well in a team are key competencies. A successful candidate will have an extensive background in building highly scalable highly available services strong technical skills a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment high creativity and great analytical reasoning skills. 6 years of noninternship professional software development experience
6 years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
6 years of leading design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience as a mentor tech lead or leading an engineering team

6 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
