Competitive Salary and Benefits Package (salary shown is based on the 2425 FY)

A $5000.00 Targeted Sign on Stipend is available to applicants who are hired for this position.

An annual stipend of two thousand four hundred dollars $2400 if bilingual proficiency standard for the position is met.

Bilingual Spanish SpeechLanguage Pathologist Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education Program

Reports to: Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education Program Coordinator

POSITION OVERVIEW

An Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education SpeechLanguage Pathologist (SLP) contributes to the overall learning and success of our youngest students (from birth until they reach kindergarten age). Language is the cornerstone of all education and a Bilingual SLP has the opportunity to offer this powerful support and impact doubly so. This role offers access to our bilingual students so they can thrive in our learning environment. Of equal significance is the support offered to parents and families as they help their young learners develop. This position also supports the monolingual teachers and therapists that work with our bilingual learners through planning and providing appropriate activities and programming for their unique learning style. This position is integral to ensuring that bilingual learners receive culturally and linguistically appropriate evaluations and services.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. A masters degree or higher
  2. One of the following:
  1. Demonstrated successful experience in special education including work with high needs populations
  2. Successful experience working with children bilingually birth to 5 years old.
  3. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  4. Fluent oral and written Spanish communication skills. Ability to conduct any appropriate testing pertinent to the position in Spanish
  5. Such alternatives to certain above qualifications may apply as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent and/or Board of Directors.

GENERAL INFORMATION

This position has the following expectations and prerequisite abilities.

  3. Maintain compliance with state and federal laws governing all aspects of our agency including ORS OAR IDEA FOIA and CIPA.
  4. Exceptional prioritization of tasks timely completion of work assignments ability to take the initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
  5. Demonstrates respectful flexible and effective teambuilding skills of cooperation communication and active participation.
  6. Present self and LBL in a professional manner including: in oral and written communication professional disposition when working with others and maintaining professional dress standards.
  7. Ability to understand and follow oral and written directives find requested data and present in userfriendly formats for internal and public distribution.
  8. Maintain regular attendance at work. Be punctual in meeting deadlines attending meetings and following schedules.
  9. Utilize teleservice platform to provide services to educators students and district staff as directed.
  10. Ability to lift carry at least 25 pounds.
  11. Ability to sit for extended periods of time in a vehicle or work setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

This is not necessarily an exhaustive or allinclusive list of responsibilities skills and duties associated with this position. The supervisor of this position may modify this list at any time its deemed necessary.

  1. Provide or direct the provision of speech and/or language therapy and services to identified students with communication disorders in both Spanish and English.
  2. Conduct individual evaluations in speech and language as well as other areas that may be assigned.
  3. Provide comprehensive written report of observations assessment results and recommendations.
  4. Confer with program personnel and parents about the evaluation results and recommendations.
  5. Coordinate and participate in the development of Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and in the determination of placement for eligible children.
  6. Coordinate and provide direct and/or consultation services to eligible EI/ECSE children in a variety of settings including homes childcare sites ECSE classrooms and communitybased classrooms.
  7. Develop and implement lesson plans/curriculum for individual or group therapy sessions
  8. Oversee and provide direction for Speech Language Pathologist Assistants (SLPA) or educational assistants assigned to the SLPs groups or classes.
  9. When assigned provide supervision and paperwork requirements of American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) Clinical Fellows as requested by agency or districts and assigned by the program coordinator.
  10. Assume responsibility for assessing progress on IFSP goals and objectives and for completing annual assessments using the approved Curriculum Based Assessment (CBA).
  11. Consult with community preschool staff and/or parents regarding individual child program needs.
  12. Participate in the evaluation design and development of Augmentative Communication systems as needed.
  13. Participate in planning and supporting students and staff in the advancement or monitoring of safe feeding practices as needed.
