This position is currently located in Anchorage. The position may be in Anchorage Fairbanks or Juneaudepending upon the location of the most qualified candidate.


What You Will Be Doing:

As a Public Health Specialist you will play a vital role within the Division of Public Health Section of Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. You will use the evidencebased public health approach to coordinate and implement evidencebased communication and social marketing campaigns related to chronic disease injury prevention and health promotion particularly targeting tobacco prevention and cessation through Alaskas Tobacco Quit Line and youth ecigarette prevention efforts. Collaborating with data analysts youll oversee the evaluation of these campaigns to ensure their effectiveness. You will develop various communication materials such as video and radio public service announcements print resources websites and social media content. Your contributions will be essential in advancing our mission to promote health and prevent disease making your role truly impactful within the organization.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
Anchorage office location is: 3601 C Street Anchorage AK 99503
In Anchorage staff work on the 7th floor of the Frontier building. The office is situated with views of the Chugach Range Mt. Denali and the Cook Inlet. There is ample covered parking high building security and vending machines for drinks/snacks.

Fairbanks office location is: 1025 Barnette St. Fairbanks AK 99701

Juneau office location is:350 Main Street Juneau Alaska
In Juneau staff work in the state office building

Currently most staff work a hybrid schedule of parttime in the office and parttime remotely from home to maximize shared office space. Staff must work in the office at least one day per week.

Any combination of preparatory postsecondary education and/or experience in public health health administration nursing epidemiology health sciences health education community health emergency medical services psychology the social sciences the biological sciences social work biostatistics/statistics education or a closely related field.

FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This position is flexibly staffed. Depending on the applicants training and/or experience this vacancy may be filled at either the 1 or 2 levels. The full range of salaries is listed above. The starting salary will be determined by the position level. If filled at a lower level promotion to the higher level will only occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training and the applicant meets the minimum qualifications of the higher job class and final approval by the supervisor.
