of Job Duties:The Department of Communication in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for two nontenure track Teaching Assistant Professor in the area of Film Studies to start in August 2025. This is a standard ninemonth faculty appointment for oneyear appointment with the potential for annual reappointment. For the annual renewal candidates should provide at least one year of evaluations as instructor of record illustrating high quality teaching effectiveness. To be eligible for a multiyear merit based appointment of up to three years applicants should submit up to three years of teaching evaluations demonstrating high quality teaching experience as an instructor of record.

The successful candidate should have experience teaching introductory film criticism courses in addition to upper level courses in film criticism and film history. Candidates should have experience teaching courses inperson as well as online as well as experience teaching large lecture courses. The position will start in August 2025.

Duties will include developing classes and teaching effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and providing service to the Department University and discipline.

Regular reliable and nondisruptive attendance is an essential job duty as is the ability to create and maintain collegial harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

With submitted materials the candidate must demonstrate:

  • Ph.D. in Communication or terminal degree in a related field by the time of appointment

  • Demonstrated competency in the classroom

  • Experience teaching introductory courses in film studies as well as upperlevel courses in the area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching film courses online or remote as well as large lecture inperson formats

  • A commitment to building an inclusive scholarly environment through teaching mentoring research outreach or service

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Experience and knowledge in teaching lower and upperlevel courses in film criticism

  • Experience and knowledge in teaching large lecture courses

  • Experience and knowledge in teaching online and inperson formats
