AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design planning delivery and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words were the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers storage networking power and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and were looking for talented people who want to help.
Youll join a diverse team of software hardware and network engineers supply chain specialists security experts operations managers and other vital roles. Youll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. Amazon is looking to hire highly motivated Network Engineers to help design deploy operate and automate one of the worlds largest and most complex networks. With Amazon Web Services our goal is to become The Infrastructure Platform to the world and our customers demand the highest quality and reliability for their services. We are expanding at a tremendous rate and our goal is to design deploy and automate network delivery while maintaining the highest reliability for our customers. Our teams scale the existing network design new topologies deploy these topologies and also automate activities where possible.
Key job responsibilities
Build Operate and rollout our global DWDM networks
Drive scaling current DWDM designs to meet the demand of our customers
Create processes that help operate and build our DWDM network
Work closely with other Networking departments on new designs
Ensure that the DWDM network adheres to the defined network standards
Review and implement changes on the DWDM network
Drive operational excellence projects to drive improvements in our DWDM network quality and reliability
Troubleshoot complex problems and develop innovative solutions day to day on our network.

6 years experience with the rollout and operations of large DWDM networks and Optical network technologies
3 years experience with optical planning and modelling tools
1 year of professional development experience with Python or similar tool for network automation scripting
Experience planning deploying and operating high capacity DWDM and Optical network systems
Good in working on a Linux/Unix environment experience
Strong automation scripting using Python Bash Shell and/or Perl experience
Experience in working in a highly available network and highly operationally aware
Meets/exceeds Amazons leadership principles requirements for this role
Meets/exceeds Amazons functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
