IMPORTANT:SR24 (Appointment may be made at any rate within the salary range from $6022 SR24C to $8577 SR24L per month at which appropriate qualified employees can be verified.
Plans directs and coordinates the installation maintenance and repair of all wastewater collection systems within the County; and performs other related duties as required.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This class is distinguished by its responsibility in directing and coordinating the installation maintenance and repair of all wastewater collection systems within the County of Maui.
Training and Experience: Graduation from high school and six 6 years of experience in a collection system and/or maintenance of large water distribution system petroleum or other liquid pipelines of which three 3 years shall have been in a supervisory capacity; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
License Requirements: Possession of a valid motor vehicle drivers (equivalent to State of Hawaii Type 3
Knowledge of: principles and practices of supervision and administration; principles procedures and practices pertinent to the installation maintenance and repair of wastewater collection systems; hazards and safety regulations precautions and practices applicable to the work; basic principles of hydraulics as applied to wastewater disposal; report writing and record keeping practices and procedures; departmental rules and regulations.
Ability to: plan organize and direct the work connected with the operation maintenance and repair of all pertinent equipment used in wastewater collection; review operational adequacy and efficiency; conduct studies and analysis of operational problems and effectuate or make appropriate recommendations; develop plans programs and budgets to meet current and long range operational needs; estimate time labor material and equipment requirements; keep records and prepare reports; deal tactfully and effectively with others.

Persons seeking appointment to positions in this class must meet the health and physical condition standards deemed necessary and proper for the performance of the duties.

The above examination is being given on an opencompetitive basis to establish an eligible list which shall be effective for not more than one year unless extended by the Director of Personnel Services.

PreEmployment/PostOffer Drug Screening Test: All applicants who will enter a safety sensitive position or certain designated categories that the Personnel Services Director has established or who are required by law to be drug tested must pass a preemployment/postoffer drug screening test as a condition of employment. There is no retesting or reevaluation process. Cost for the drug screening test shall be borne by the County of Maui.
