About the Business Analyst Position
The Business Analyst role is a highly collaborative position with insight into and collaboration with all roles within the organization. This position serves as a primary facilitator and leader for crossteam communication and collaboration. The Business Analyst must familiarize him/herself with scope objectives and architecture of each project to gain a cohesive detailed and accurate understanding. Business Analysts must have focused attention to detail and must work well in teams or on solo tasks.
The Business Analysts primary responsibility is gathering and analyzing detailed functional requirements. As a result the Business Analyst will produce functional specifications for client approval that clearly denote scope and requirements to aid user interface engineering and quality analysis teams in project development. The Business Analyst owns/organizes all projectrelated documentation. The Business Analyst is responsible for answering scope and functionality related questions as well as to provide oversight to the successful completion of the project.
Approximately less than 20 travel may be required per year.
Responsibilities
Documentation
- Responsible for drafting and updating all functional specification documentation including use cases process and data workflows as well as relationships between content structures
- Work closely with the Technical Architects digital marketing and creative teams to obtain the technical and UX details for the necessary planning deliverables before the implementation phase.
- Familiarity with standard best practices and approaches for ecommerce workflows in order to provide recommendations.
- Ability to understand the importance of various backend systems that support the ecommerce experience to drive out requirements and uncover necessary integrations.
- Analyze and understand the implications of any proposed changes to assess the impacts on UX systems and processes.
- Ability to identify gaps overlaps and conflicting information in scope and requirements.
- Work closely with the team to resolve project issues.
- Create maintain and help prioritize the project backlog.
- Ability to outline basic test scenarios provide functional and technical recommendations as necessary.
Communication/Collaboration
- Facilitating crossdepartment communication is key to this role.
- The Business Analyst leads project handoff and retrospective meetings with members of the Engineering Quality Analysis Project Management and Creative teams. Will be responsible for capturing & followingup on any action/blocking items.
- The Business Analyst will be the main information resource for project functionality and scope specific questions.
- Must be able to effectively communicate and document complex user interaction scenarios.
- The Business Analyst is a client facing role. Frequent communication with the client is necessary for gathering requirements and making recommendations. They will also be responsible for explaining gaps and technical concepts for an often nontechnical audience.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in related field specialized training or 36 years of equivalent work experience in IT/software industry focused on ecommerce.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills with the ability to cultivate relationships with internal departments.
- ECommerce industry experience is a requirement and B2B specific experience is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to gather analyze and document information clearly and efficiently.
- Proactive nature to actively seek gaps and issues and make recommendations to functionality.
- Candidate should possess a solid understanding of frontend development and have exposure to middle tier and backend development. Although development knowledge is desirable development will not be a focus of this role.
- Experience with Digital Experience Platforms and integrations (Sitecore Optimizely or others) is essential.
- Familiarity with both agile and waterfall development methodologies is a plus.
- Experience with project lifecycle management tools such as JIRA and Confluence would be a plus.
- Must be an innovative selfmotivated and handson professional who excels with new and changing technologies in a rapidly growing and fast moving company.
- Multiday domestic and sometimes international travel will be a requirement for some projects.
