Our team provides creative cost effective and practical solutions to stakeholders in power generation transmission and distribution Engineer must demonstrate vision and drive and be passionate about contributing to the growth of the Power Systems Advisory business in North America. The ideal candidate willcontribute in delivering technical insights and providing customers with excellent customer service.
What Youll Do
- Perform Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) Studies such as sub synchronous resonance (SSR) control interaction (SSCI) ferroresonance temporary overvoltage (TOV) switching overvoltage (SOV) transient recovery voltage (TRV) harmonic energization etc.
- Develop/tune PSCAD models perform PSCAD/PSSE model benchmarking analysis
- Produce and/or review technical reports and presentations for external Customers
- Timely completion of projects assigned while meeting project quality and project budget
- Stay up to date with relevant industry standards such as IEEE NERC CIGRE
- Develop or modify automation scripts to enhance the efficiency speed and accuracy of technical simulations
- Contribute to the teams research and innovative activities in terms of development of new techniques and/or analytical tools to enhance teams performance in terms of efficiency and/or capability improvements
- Cultivate customer relationships technical advisory support for generations and large load interconnections connecting to transmission system
This role is based at our DNV office in Dallas (TX) Austin (TX) Houston (TX) Oak Brook (IL) Portland (OR) Seattle (WA) Medford (MA) presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three 3 days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. Further details regarding rolespecific requirements will be shared during the interview process.
The position may also be considered at other DNV offices within US.

For California Washington New York Washington D.C. Illinois and Maryland: DNV provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. The actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set level of experience and specific location. For the states of California Washington New York Washington D.C. Illinois and Maryland only the starting pay range for this role is $80000 $135000.

- Masters degree in electrical engineering with emphasis in Power System and Control
- Handson experience with PSCAD software
- Knowledge of inverterbased resources (Wind Solar Battery Storage) and associated control
- Indepth understanding of fundamentals of electric power systems and renewable energy smallsignal and largesignal control stability
- Strong organizational interpersonal (written & verbal) skills problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic team environment
- Excellent oral and written communications skills in English

What is Preferred
- Active PE License
- Doctorate degree with emphasis on Electric Power Systems
- Hands on experience performing EMT SSR studies
- Experience in scripting languages (e.g. Python MATLAB) for automation and data analysis
- Demonstrable handson experience with one or more power system analysis software packages including PSS/E DigSilent Power Factory TSAT TARA ASPEN
- Knowledge of ERCOT Electricity Market planning & interconnection practices
- Knowledge of other Electricity Markets (such as PJM MISO NYISO ISONE) planning & interconnection practices
