The Department of Human Physiology at the University of Oregon is seeking an innovative instructor to join a growing nationallyrecognized program that provides flexible curriculum and an engaging learning environment for over 1000 undergraduate majors who aspire to be professionals in health science fields such as medicine physical therapy occupational therapy nursing dentistry pharmacy education and research.
Located 110 miles south of Portland the University of Oregon has an enrollment of 24000. The Eugene metro area population 250000 is in a region noted for its high quality of life and progressive cultural environment. We are approximately a onehour drive from the Pacific Coast and the Cascade Mountains. The University is an AAU research institution.
The Career Instructor will engage in departmental and university service work effectively with faculty staff and students with diverse backgrounds participate in student advising and to be a leader in evidencebased pedagogy for the Department of Human Physiology. Specific teaching needs include undergraduate instruction in upperlevel courses in Human Anatomy Physiology Motor Control Biomechanics. The Career Instructor will also teach lowerlevel courses in Research Methods Medical Terminology as well as instruction and development of physiologybased courses for General Science credits this is not a tenure track position it is expected to be an ongoing position at the rank of instructor or senior instructor I depending on experience.
Instructor rank:
Masters Degree in Human Physiology or a related field.
Two years experience teaching at the college level
Senior Instructor rank:
Masters Degree in Human Physiology or a related field.
Eight years experience teaching at the college level
Demonstrated excellence in teaching and learning strategies at the university level.
Remain active with developments in teaching pedagogy.
PhD in Human Physiology or a related field.
Background in systems physiology including nerve muscle cardiovascular respiratory metabolic and/or exercise physiology.
Senior Instructor Level Significant experience engaging in professional development around the scholarship of teaching and learning
