Description

Temporary position provides service of installation repair and maintenance of all district grounds and landscaped areas.- Hours/Day: 8
- Temporary Role
- Daily Start/End times: 6:30 AM 3:00 PM
- Anticipated Start/End Date: May 1 2025 August 29 2025
- BenefitsMedical/Dental/Vision through SEBB (School Employee Benefits Board) are provided for employees who work at least 630 hours per academic year.

Responsibilities
- Work with hand tools to dig ditches trenches and other excavations.
- Maintain shrub beds flower beds lawns and other required area.
- Assist in applying fertilizers and ground sprays as required.
- Remove transfer and lay sod as needed.
- Operate power tools and equipment including trucks tractors etc.
- Handle power equipment such as mowers edgers sod cutters and pruning equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance work on grounds such as aerating trimming pruning seeding as required.
- Perform in snow removal as assigned.
- Observe safety rules and regulations at all times.
- Perform related duties as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability and aptitude to perform the responsibilities listed.
- Ability to handle power equipment such as mowers edgers sod cutters pruning equipment and snow blowers.
- Physical strength and ability to perform strenuous outside work. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Related education preferred.
- Related work experience required with parks golf courses and large institutional work experience.
- Basic horticulture knowledge and ability.
- Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with other people and to sustain employment.
- Demonstrated ability to relate and work effectively with a diverse group of coworkers and staff in a positive and professional manner.
- Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication.
- Possession of fertilizer and spray licenses preferred.
- Relates positively to youth and adults of varying socioeconomic cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

- Work Schedule Days and hours (listed above) are subject to change depending on program and district needs.
- Stipends Leave Accruals and Holidays Stipends leaves and paid holidays are in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement Collective Bargaining Agreementsas negotiated.

Employees can choose from a lifetime retirement pension plan or a hybrid pension and investment plan that contributes between 5 and 15 of wages to retirement. When employees meet plan requirements and retire they are guaranteed a monthly benefit for the rest of their life from the employerfunded pension.
- Employees can also participate in voluntary savings programs to increase retirement savings such as the DRS Deferred Compensation Program or by participating in a 403(b) retirement plan through the Districts plan manager OMNI.
