Description

Temporary position provides service of installation repair and maintenance of all district grounds and landscaped areas.

  • Hours/Day: 8
  • Temporary Role
  • Daily Start/End times: 6:30 AM 3:00 PM
  • Anticipated Start/End Date: May 1 2025 August 29 2025

Responsibilities

  1. Work with hand tools to dig ditches trenches and other excavations.
  2. Maintain shrub beds flower beds lawns and other required area.
  3. Assist in applying fertilizers and ground sprays as required.
  4. Remove transfer and lay sod as needed.
  5. Operate power tools and equipment including trucks tractors etc.
  6. Handle power equipment such as mowers edgers sod cutters and pruning equipment.
  7. Perform routine maintenance work on grounds such as aerating trimming pruning seeding as required.
  8. Perform in snow removal as assigned.
  9. Observe safety rules and regulations at all times.
  10. Perform related duties as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications

  1. Demonstrated ability and aptitude to perform the responsibilities listed.
  2. Ability to handle power equipment such as mowers edgers sod cutters pruning equipment and snow blowers.
  3. Physical strength and ability to perform strenuous outside work. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  4. Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record required.
  5. High school diploma or equivalent required. Related education preferred.
  6. Related work experience required with parks golf courses and large institutional work experience.
  7. Basic horticulture knowledge and ability.
  8. Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with other people and to sustain employment.
  9. Demonstrated ability to relate and work effectively with a diverse group of coworkers and staff in a positive and professional manner.
  10. Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication.
  11. Possession of fertilizer and spray licenses preferred.
  12. Relates positively to youth and adults of varying socioeconomic cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

  2. Stipends Leave Accruals and Holidays Stipends leaves and paid holidays are in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement Collective Bargaining Agreementsas negotiated.
