Responsibilities

Details of Research Project:

The Simon Lab is seeking a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral researcher to join our wellestablished virology lab in New York City.

Our lab is part of the Department of Microbiology and our work is primarily focused on viruses including SARSCoV2 HIV SIV HTLV and human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs) among others. The successful candidate will have a PhD in virology or cell biology strong molecular biology skills and a passion for research. The postdoctoral researcher will be involved in cuttingedge research projects aimed at understanding viralhost interactions.

Technical Duties:

  • Conduct research projects related to different viruses viral evolution immune response and other areas of interest
  • Develop and optimize experimental protocols
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in peerreviewed journals
  • Present research findings at national and international conferences
  • Attend weekly meetings to discuss progress
  • Collaborate with other researchers within the department across the institution and around the world


Qualifications

Educational and other Requirements for the position:

Requirements:

PhD in virology cell biology or a related field

Strong molecular biology skills including experience with PCR cloning gene expression analysis and next generation sequencing

Experience with cell culture and ideally primary cell isolation

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Enthusiasm for research and a strong work ethic

Experience Required: MD or PhD
