The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) is the second largest municipal health system in the nation. Through academic affiliations with the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) the University of Southern California (USC) and the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Sciences (CDU) DHS hospitals are training sites for physicians completing their Graduate Medical Education in nearly every medical specialty and subspecialty. In addition to its direct clinical services DHS also runs the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agency and the Countys 911 emergency response system as well as Housing for Health and the Office of Diversion and Reentry each with a meaningful role in connecting vulnerable populations including those released from correctional and institutional settings to supportive housing.
MISSION:Plans assigns supervises and inspects the work of electricians other skilled craft workers apprentices and helpers in the installation alteration and repair of electrical wiring systems and equipment.
Lays out jobs and estimates labor and material requirements.
Advises superiors concerning specifications for electrical wiring systems and equipment in construction and alteration projects performed under contract.
Determines work means and methods.
Coordinates work activities with other crafts or operating units.
Ensures that code requirements safety regulations and safe work practices are followed.
Makes rough sketches of jobs showing gauges measurements and materials to be used.
Makes periodic inspections of existing electrical wiring systems and equipment.
Orders and maintains stock of materials and supplies.
Supervises the maintenance of tools and equipment.
Supervises the maintenance of work records.
Drives automotive equipment as needed to and from work sites in order to transport the necessary tools equipment and materials required to perform the job.
REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:
Three 3 years of journeylevel* experience in the installation alteration and repair of commercial and industrial electrical wiring systems and equipment.
*Journeylevel experience applies to a person who has completed an apprenticeship program or is an experienced worker not a trainee and is fully qualified and able to perform a specific trade without supervision.
LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out jobrelated essential functions.
A City of Los Angeles Regulation 4 Certificate may be required for testing Life/Safety systems in County buildings located within the city limits of Los Angeles. Life/Safety systems are defined as: fire alarms automaticclosing fire assemblies elevator recall fire suppression and emergency power systems.
PHYSICAL CLASS III MODERATE:
This class requires that the incumbent stand or walk most of the time with bending stooping squatting twisting reaching working on irregular surfaces occasional lifting of objects weighing over 25 pounds and frequent lifting of 1025 pounds.

Keen color perception.
EXAMINATION CONTENT:
An evaluation of experience based upon application information and supplemental questionnaire weighted 100.
The passing score for the assessment is 70.
ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION:Applications will be processed as they are received and added to the list accordingly.
Candidates who passed the assessment(s) are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of 12 months. We will use this list to fill vacancies as they occur.
