The CASA Classroom Program is a treatmentoriented program that is a collaboration between CASA and The Palliser School Division. Palliser is hiring a teacher to join a multidisciplinary team that will support the mental health needs of grade 58 students in a single classroom environment located within R.I. Baker Middle School in the community of Coaldale.
The CASA Classroom will include up to twelve students from schools in the surrounding area. This teacher will design oversee and implement the learning programs for students admitted into the CASA Program each semester. Additionally this teacher will collaborate with the mental health support team from CASA to support students mental health needs and growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Curriculum and Instruction:
- Develops and implements lesson plans aligned with the Alberta Curriculum with primary focus on Literacy and Numeracy for students in Grades 58
- Provides instruction and guidance to support childrens individual needs and learning styles.
- Assesses and observes student progress adjusting instruction as needed
Student Support:
- Helps students develop selfdirected learning skills.
- Provides individualized support to students addressing their specific needs and challenges.
- Maintains a clean organized and aesthetically pleasing classroom that is conducive to learning.
Parent Communication and Collaboration:
- Builds strong relationships with parents keeping them informed about their childs progress.
- Provides opportunities for parents to participate in their childs learning journey.
Professional Development:
- Attends staff meetings workshops and professional development opportunities at the school divisional and CASA levels
- Participates in school events and activities.
Other Responsibilities:
- Participates in the CASA Intake processes
- Maintains accurate student records
- Follows school and divisional policies and procedures
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate;
- Effective organization and classroom management skills
- Ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe supported and challenged
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Experience or familiarity with analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
- Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice

In addition to the expectations we have for all teachers the following skills and experiences are considered an asset:
- Experience working with students with diagnosed mental health or socialemotional challenges
- Experience in diverse classrooms with a wide range of learning and regulation needs
- Training in mental health literacy and traumainformed teaching practices
- Successful Criminal Reference Check including vulnerable sectors (within 3 months of contract start date)
