The University of Utah College of Social Work invites applications for a 12month CareerLine faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor (Lecturer). The primary responsibilities associated with this lecturer position is teaching in the online MSW program. There may be opportunities to teach in the online BSW and Substance Use Disorder Treatment Training certificate programs. This is a nontenure track faculty position within the Universitys CareerLine Faculty structure with a renewable contract. The University of Utah and the College of Social Work value candidates who have experience working in settings with students from various backgrounds and possess a strong commitment to improving access to higher education for historically underrepresented students. The successful candidate filling this position is not required to be on the University of Utahs Salt Lake City campus. The successful candidate may engage in telework remotely unless otherwise notified. The successful candidate hired into this position will be responsible for providing their own work space telephone printing networking and/or internet capabilities at the telecommute location and agree to the terms of the University of Utah campus and Health Academics faculty code and other relevant agreements. Required Qualifications Applicants must have earned an MSW degree from a CSWE accredited program; a Doctorate (Ph.D. or DSW in Social Work is preferred. Applicants must have a history of teaching online and grounded (inperson) social work courses; certification in online teaching is preferred but not required. Applicants should also have experience with online curriculum/course development. Applicants must have a minimum of three years of post MSW social work practice; five or more years of post MSW practice is preferred. Responsibilities Teach online courses during fall spring and summer semester Proactively engage with and support the success of online students Ensure the quality of online teaching by engaging in ongoing professional development opportunities Support curriculum development as needed for online courses Participate in and work collaboratively to complete assigned duties in College of Social Work committees including admissions and advisory committees. Create and maintain cooperative collaborative and effective working relationships with administrators faculty members and staff in the delivery of online courses and programs Other duties as assigned. The College established in 1937 is the only institution in the Intermountain West that offers all three degrees in social work: BSW MSW and Ph.D. The BSW and MSW Programs are campus and onlinebased. The Ph.D. Program is campus and distancebased. In 2024 U.S. News and World Report ranked the College #36 in the nation and Academic Analytics ranked the College #13 in the nation for NIH grant funding. The College houses two research centers the Social Research Institute and the Utah Criminal Justice Centerwhich provide faculty and students with interdisciplinary highly impactful research opportunities and support for the development and implementation of funded research projects. Currently College faculty are leading a number of federally state and foundationfunded translational research projects to advance social work research and innovate evidencebased practices for vulnerable populations. The Colleges Goodwill Humanitarian Building features stateoftheart clinical training suites equipped with oneway mirrors and audiovisual technology for realtime clinical supervision and feedback.
