Summary
Are you an experienced and technically proficient Capital Project Manager The Solid Waste Division needs you! We are inviting applications for a Capital Project Manager III position in our Project Management Office. In this position you will lead challenging and fascinating work with longterm environmental impacts on our region! You will work primarily from home with flexible schedule options collaborate with smart and friendly colleagues while leading the design and construction of multifaceted regional public infrastructure projects informed by cuttingedge environmental leadership.
This recruitment will be used to fill a current Career Service vacant position and may be used to create a list of competitive candidates to fill possible future vacancies within the next 12 months.
About this Role:
The PMO capital projects portfolio includes transfer station development projects in phases from charter to construction and closeout as well as capital improvements and additions to existing Solid Waste Division transfer stations. Capital projects also include infrastructure development and maintenance improvements to the regional landfill. Capital project managers lead consultants subject matter experts and project stakeholders through project development processes from project scope schedule and budget development contracting for consulting and engineering services and construction services and construction management services to project design construction occupancy and closeout activities.Solid Waste Division capital project managers may be assigned to transfer station and landfill projects in various phases of progress and will provide effective project management leadership driving project goals and objectives managing resources prioritizing and integrating county equity and social justice and sustainability goals and presenting and reporting project status to internal and external sponsors.
About the Team:
Members of the Solid Waste Division Project Management Office (PMO) manage or support Capital Improvement Projects for the Solid Waste Division. Capital projects help maintain or improve SWD assets such as our transfer stations drop boxes Cedar Hills Regional Landfill and other systems necessary to support our SWD goals. Our section leads the Divisions efforts on overseeing the project management of a variety of projects by leading project teams consultants contractors and technical/program staff to ensure seamless project delivery by integrating organizational and sponsor requirements.

- Prioritize organize and manage project work and resources
- Contract with and manage consultants and other professionals by monitoring performance and ensuring accountability
- Develop manage and lead project teams
- Identify manage and respond to project risks
- Manage design construction management and construction contracts

Qualifications You Bring:
- ABachelors degree in project management construction management engineering business administrationora closely related fieldwith a minimum of five 5 years of design and construction project management lead work experience ORa combination of other relevant skills knowledge and experiences to competently carry out the job duties of this position
- Demonstratedability to work on multiple complex projects simultaneouslyandproduce highquality deliverablesin a timely manner
- Ability towork collaboratively with a wide range of professional disciplines and individuals with diverse backgroundsin dynamic team settings and utilize strong interpersonal communication skills

Working Conditions:
- Remote and Onsite Work Details:Employees in this role work remotely from a home location with onsite reporting requirements typically 12 days a month. The frequency of onsite work is determined by business needs and may be adjusted accordingly. The most common onsite location will be Cedar Hills Regional Landfill including the collaboration space at King Street Center 201 S. Jackson St Seattle WA 98104. This work arrangement promotes worklife balance and reduces carbon footprint under the departments vision of Green Where We Work.
- Remote Work Location Requirement: Employees must reside in Washington State and be within a reasonable distance of King County worksites to meet onsite reporting requirements.
- Work Schedule: This fulltime position works a 40hour work week. This position is exempt from the overtime provision of the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) and is not overtime eligible.
- Union Representation: This position is represented by Protec Local 17.
