SUMMARY:
The Career Services Coordinator will be responsible for providing job placement guidance and assistance to
graduates of the assigned Dorsey Schools campus and will also work to develop relationships with employers
in the area. This person may also be assigned to teach in the classroom.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct a group Career Services meeting with all potential graduates once each module to provide an overview of
career services offered provide information and obtain career services documents.
Meet with all potential graduates individually prior to graduation to discuss a job search strategy and to conduct a
mock interview.
Review resumes that students prepare in class to ensure quality and appropriateness to the program.
May assist instructors with mock interviews.
Attend and participate in all new student orientation sessions.
Conduct a Graduate Clearance meeting once per module with all graduates on Tuesday of Week 6/12 at 2 p.m. This
meeting should be coordinated with the campus financial aid team.
Be available to work with day and evening students.
GRADUATE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contact all graduates in the active cohort year at least twice weekly one of which should be in person or via
telephone. Contact graduates returning for placement at least once every two weeks. All contacts and contact
attempts must be documented in CampusVue.
Assist graduates with resumes online applications job search strategies interview coordination and any
other issues related to each graduates job search.
Provide graduates with job leads appropriate to their program of study; coordinate interviews for graduates
with employers as requested by the employer.
Ensure that placements are clearly related to the graduates program of study and that each placement will
meet accreditation requirements.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Assist graduates to resolve basic barriers to employment i.e. referrals to child care and transportation
resources. Refer students with significant barriers to employment to the Managing Director for assistance.
EMPLOYER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Goal: 3050 employer contacts per week.
Actively contact employers to develop working relationship and identify current employment openings and
refer qualified students to available job orders in a timely and professional manner. Record all contacts in the
CampusVue database.
Ensure that job leads are regularly developed for graduates of all programs offered at the campus.
Respond to job order specifications from employers follow up with employers regarding outcomes and
record employers account records/job orders in the CampusVue database in a timely and accurate manner.
Facilitate employer onsite interviews and participate in Chamber of Commerce Meetings and other industry
events to promote Dorseys graduates and Career Services.
Conduct a minimum of two job fairs annually at the campus.
Assist the education department to identify and maintain an active employer advisory board for each program
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure that accreditation goals for placement are met or exceeded.
Enter all contacts and attempted contacts with graduates and employers into CampusVue.
Enter all job leads and placements into CampusVue completely and accurately.
Attend Career Service weekly conference calls CSC meetings each module and other faculty/staff inservice meetings as
assigned.
Submit all reports to the Managing Director and Campus Support Center Career Services Department as required.
May be assigned teaching responsibilities as caseload permits.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES:
Ability to work well independently as well as within a team environment.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills as well as active listening.
Proficient with basic office equipment computers and computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
Must possess strong time management skills and ability to work well under pressure.
Must be reliable and able to multitask prioritize and show extreme resourcefulness and problemsolving skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of an Associates degree and three years of successful placement experience or equivalent combination of
education and experience; Bachelors degree preferred.
Previous job development/job placement experience preferred.

to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job
the employee is regularly required to see talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to
stand; walk;sit for extended periods of time; and have sufficient hand arm and finger dexterity to
operate a phone computer keyboard and other office equipment.
