This fulltime classified and overtime eligible position is a member of the custodial team and reports to the Custodial Supervisor. Custodians provide students staff and community with a safe and healthy educational environment. The custodial team is part of the emergency team and is required to report to work when the college is closed due to emergencies. This role is open until filled.
We are seeking three qualified candidates. The Custodian I / Swing Shift position 3:30pm12:00am is represented by the AFTWA Employees Association. The pay range for this position is $21.05$29.17 hourlyand salary placement is based on applicable work experience. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
Maintain general cleanliness of interior and exterior of the facility. This includes working effectively independently and in a team atmosphere toaccomplishassigned tasks.
Maintain floorswallsand windows in assigned buildings.
Collecttransportand properly dispose of all trash and recycling as assigned.
Clean disinfect and restock restrooms and locker rooms.
Clean and sanitize food prep and service areas.
Move furniture equipment and supplies as.
Report mechanical malfunctions and damage or hazards to buildings and grounds to CustodialSupervisor
Shovel snow from entrancesstairsand walkways. Spread deice as needed.
Replace and recycle all lamps (fluorescent/bulbs etc. and batteries as needed.
Maintain twoway communication at all times when on duty.
Open and secure buildings as assigned by the Custodial Supervisor.
Establish andmaintaineffective working relationships with students staff and thegeneral public.
Demonstrated experience or participation with persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation racial ethnic religious linguistic gender age socioeconomicphysicaland learning abilities and a commitment to an inclusive andequitableworking/learning environment.
Ability to communicate effectively in the English language.
Ability to lift 50 pounds climb a ladder to heights of 25 feet and be on your feet for an 8hour shift.
One year ofworkexperience in the cleaning industry.
Current Grade IV Boiler Operator license or higher upon hireis preferred.
Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to work effectively with individuals whose first language is not English.
Ability toestablishand maintain effective working relationships with coworkers studentsstaffand thegeneral public.
Demonstrated competencies to organize set priorities attend to details and follow tasks through to completion.
Ability torepresentthe college in a positive and professional manner while using tactdiscretionand courtesy.
Ability to speak a regionally top spoken language other than English is preferred (Spanish Vietnamese Russian Somali and Chinese).
