Job Description

The School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences (SAFS) at the University of Washington seeks to fill a tenuretrack position at the Assistant Professor level with a specialization in freshwater ecology. The successful applicant is expected to establish a collaborative externally funded and nationally recognized research program and to contribute to the teaching mission of the School through innovative classroom teaching and effective mentorship of undergraduate/graduate students and University of Washington faculty engage in teaching research/scholarship and service.

This is a fulltime 100 FTE) 9month position with an anticipated September 16 2025 start date. The initial appointment of an Assistant Professor is typically for a period of three years. Renewal for a second threeyear term will be considered by the department and school/college/campus spring quarter of the second year

SAFS is housed within the Universitys College of the Environment which provides a broad interdisciplinary and global position for education and basic and applied research. SAFS maintains unique research and teaching facilities such as the University of Washington Fish Collection field stations in southwestern Alaska the Columbia Basin Research program and hosts the USGS Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit. Compensation

The base salary range for this position will be $9500 $14000 per month commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailingwage determination. Other compensation associated with this position may include a moving allowance a relocation incentiveand/or commitment of summer salary.



Candidates must have a Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in freshwater ecology or a related field by the start of the appointment. They must also show evidence of teaching effectiveness and/or potential for highquality teaching and mentoring.
