Are you looking for that work/life balance Looking for a change from routine laboratory lab work

We are currently hiring for a Procurement Officer / Clinic assistant with laboratory skills to join our IVF Clinic. Under the supervision of the Nurse Unit Manager and Laboratory Manager this role encompasses a wide range departments; working with patients doctors; nursing and scientific staff.

It is a very busy role critical for the running of an IVF unit with lots of variety. Your typical day will include;

  • Procurement of supplies a large part of this role involves ordering linen; IVF lab supplies and consumables across the entire clinic.
  • Preparing lab for daily procedures including assisting the lab with washing wrapping and sterilising of all glassware.
  • Monitor reagents and maintain adequate inventory and timely purchasing of necessary supplies.
  • Liaising with the hospital ensuring CSSD supplies are sufficient for the daily / weekly procedures
  • Responsible for receiving archiving and removal of used linen & CSSD equipment in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assisting with general; nursing and laboratory administration

Ideally this person will have science / laboratory technical skills in a pathology laboratory.  Further duties will include :

  • Daily monitoring of temperature dependent equipment
  • Perform maintenance QC on a Roche Analyser for routine endocrinology testing of patient samples.
  • Assists with specimen receipt and specimen triage ensuring proper quality monitoring methods are followed. Discrepancies are immediately brought to the attention of the supervisor or senior staff and properly documented.

Qualifications :

Diploma in science / medical laboratory science (pathology) / College degree or an equivalent certification in Science & Technology biology or related discipline

What do you need to succeed

  • Previous experience working in a laboratory environment.
  • Manual dexterity and acuity necessary to prepare specimens screen specimens prepare solutions and operate instrumentation and a computer.
  • Genuine interest in science and being part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Common sense and the ability to remain calm in heightened situations
  • Organisational skills and ability to prioritise your day.
  • High attention to detail
  • Full working rights in Australia
