TheOpportunityHighline College is a comprehensive community college providing certificates associate and bachelors degrees in highquality academic transfer pathways workforce training and Adult Basic Education. Highline College (HC) is seeking qualified applicants for a fulltime oneyear contract lecturer position in Nursing (Associates of Applied Sciences Registered Nursing).
This position is expected to begin in Fall Quarter 2025.
Professional Responsibilities

Teaching:Create a welcoming and supportive learning environment and use evidencebased practices to improve the success of diverse students; in collaboration with colleagues identify and implement strategies designed to close equity gaps experienced by students from historically minoritized groups.Engage in selfreflective practice. Lecturers typically teach the equivalent of 40 credits per academic year;
Advising/ Coaching/ Mentoring: Work with students outside of class to help them choose courses and get connected with campus and community resources. Participate in professional learning opportunities focused on culturally responsive advising and establishing relationships with students;
Collaborate with colleagues/participate in shared governance:In collaboration with colleagues engage in continuous improvement through collegewide assessment processes. Participate in department division and other College activities including College governance. Establish and maintain respectful ethical and professional relationships with students and colleagues;
Professional development/ ongoing professional learning:Engage in ongoing professional learning. This includes remaining current in your discipline and evidencebased practices for culturally response inclusive and antiracist pedagogies.

Highline College is in the process of implementing guided pathways as a campuswide transformation strategy designed to improve student success and decrease equity gaps. HC received a federally funded fiveyear Title III grant in October 2020 designed to support our guided pathways work. HC is also developing a new EquityFirst Strategic Plan with broad campus participation.Essential Tasks
Duties and Responsibilities

- Management of the Skills lab in collaboration with Skills Lab Technician/Classroom Support
- Direct and delegate set up and break down of skills lab activities;
- Track and maintain an inventory of supplies for skills lab;
- Coordinate with Simulation & Skills Labs Technicians to assure that all equipment is regularly updated cleaned and properly stored;
- Support learning activities including instruction return skills demonstration and open lab.
- Simulation Lab in collaboration with Simulation Technician
- Support simulation learning activities as needed;
- Support simulation technology as needed;
- Support acquisition maintenance and storage of supplies as needed.
- Student Success
- Facilitate lab skills remediation and additional practice sessions;
- Provide individual and group tutoring for nursing students at the recommendation of faculty or request of students;
- Create and implement boosted learning and/or embedded learning opportunities for students;
- Support theory faculty to promote literacy skills in the classroom.
- Management of the Skills lab in collaboration with Skills Lab Technician/Classroom Support
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Have a minimum of a graduate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and from a nursing education program that is accredited by a nursing education accreditation body recognized by the United States Department of Education;OR
A bachelors degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and from a nursing education program that is accredited by a nursing education accreditation body recognized by the United States Department of Education and a graduate degree in a health or education related field from an accredited college or university.(WAC
Pending degrees must be completed by September 2025 and verified by a letter from the granting institution.
AND
- Nursing faculty shall have an active unencumbered Washington state registered nurse license. (WAC
Desired Qualifications:

- Clinicalnursingexperienceinmedical surgicalnursingand/or communitybasedhealthcare services;

- Formal simulation training or certification;

- Fluency in one or more languages other than English;
- Ability to obtain and maintain ProfessionalTechnical certification requirements.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
A standard 170day contract is written annually for the period of September to June. This position is exempt from the overtime pay requirements of The Fair Labor Standards Act.
This is a unionrepresented position subject to aCollective Bargaining Agreement.
