As a Registered Nurse participating in the Nursing Graduate Guarantee program you will be an integral part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team focused on delivering seamless services and programs to our clients and customers. What youll be doing:
- In collaboration with the interdisciplinary team deliver comprehensive clinical and mental health assessments care planning quality patient care and education as well as discharge planning
- Contribute to program development to enhance and support patient care
- Provide care and comfort measures; monitor and assist with diagnostic and therapeutic efforts while continually monitoring patients response to treatment
- Document and communicate patients beliefs values and wishes keeping in mind respect for others and legal ethical and professional boundaries
- Maximize the patients participation and control in their own treatment providing information and support for decision-making
- Maintain awareness and demonstrate sensitivity to culture situation and family dynamics
- Administer psychiatric and non-psychiatric medications and treatments accurately and safely according to policy and procedure monitoring the patient for difficulties therapeutic responses untoward effects and reactions and reporting effects to a physician or clinical manager
- Ensure post-discharge follow-up is in place accessible and has been understood by the patient
- Complete documentation according to professional standards the principles of clear communication and Homewood policy and procedures
- Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) efforts to improve safety knowledge skills competency communication and problem solving
- Participate in committees and task forces within the health centre
What were looking for:
- Bachelor of Nursing degree
- Recently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario (within the last 12 months) or about to be registered as an RN
- Current BCLS certification
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and active listener
- Outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills and the ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Strong physical assessment skills and demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint
- Understanding of the healthcare system and the services available for the treatment of mental health and addiction
- Awareness and acknowledgement of the value of using measurement-based care when supporting patients/clients to help guide clinical decision making; experience an asset
