Position Summary

Under guidance from project engineering architectural or technical services staff assist in the planning design and development of construction drawings for various projects. Provide field support including field verifications for retrofit applications asbuilt documentation onsite procurement and installation supervision. Provide direction to drafters as required to complete design assignments and review work for accuracy and completeness.

Essential Responsibilities

• Develop a complete set of construction drawings.

• Exercise independent judgment by utilizing the correct design criteria based on knowledge from vendor data and project scope.

• Check drawings for accuracy including dimensions spelling drafting standards and completeness.

• Review manufacturers drawings and other discipline drawings and any existing plan drawings for physical interferences.

• Communicate with the project engineer and other disciplines to resolve any design problems with the manufacturers drawings or interferences.

• Advise assist and occasionally directs drafting personnel of a lesser grade in performance of their assigned duties.

• Assure the company quality assurance procedures are followed in completion of assigned tasks.

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or GED. Min. of Assoc. Degree in one of the following fields of study: drafting design automation electronics mechatronics engineering GIS other related field of study. In lieu of an Assoc. Degree: a combination of education and experience in design/drafting construction project management or electronics providing equivalent knowledge. Working knowledge of one or more of the following: GIS design software work management programs and related systems desirable. Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is preferred. Knowledge of construction standards materials and technical codes is preferred. Demonstrate the ability to produce complex engineering drawings in a 2D or 3D environment. Knowledge of and ability to use Windows operating system Microsoft Office applications (Outlook Excel Word Access). Selfstarter able to work with minimal supervision. Valid driver license.
