Shift: 7:00am5:30pm TuesdayFriday
Annual Salary:$133428.00$179484.00
The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a professional and qualified individual to take on the role of Psychologist 4 within the Health Services Division. Correctional Health Care is a rewarding career path at DOC in which health care professionals treat a wide array of cases for patients residing within a state correctional facility. Health Services is responsible for basic primary care for incarcerated individuals. All disciplines within each of the 12 correctional facilities work closely together to reach a common goal providing the best most efficient and costeffective health care possible. Emphasis is placed on early identification of health concerns care for acute and chronic health problems and preventive care.

SCCC is a 1936bed multicustody facility located five miles west of Aberdeen on the southern Washington Coast. There are seven living units for medium and minimum longterm custody individuals and an intensive management unit for maximumcustody individuals. SCCC was Washington States first tobaccofree facility for both staff and incarcerated population.

Duties

As thePsychologist key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

Administration:

  • The Psych will administratively plan develop and direct psychological assessments clinical interventions psychotherapeutic psychosocial education and incarcerated individual change services for individuals assigned to the facility. The Psych serves as psychological consultant to the Clinical Director Superintendent and medical staff on problems involving psychological services. Serves as consultant to diagnostic intake treatment and disposition staff. Regular attendance in scheduled teleconferences and other meetings as assigned. Actively participate in the Coordinated Quality Improvement Program (CQIP) by reviewing performance measures associated with Mental Health and developing methodologies to reach established performance goals.
Clinical and Administrative Oversight
  • The Psychologist 4 actively administers directs and evaluates staff assigned under their supervision. This includes both administrative and clinical performance. The Psych sets expectations for performance outcomes and quality. As a supervisor you are to establish performance expectations and goals for your team that are specific and measurable and accepts personal responsibility for results. This includes reviewing charts reading and approving treatment plans MHAs and MHUs. Meet regularly with each employee to set and clarify expectations provide feedback and coaching. Use formal and informal methods to monitor and track each employees performance.
Direct Patient Care and Coordination:
  • The Psychologist directs or provides individual and group psychotherapy to patients does psychodiagnostic testing of patients and interview patients relatives and enlists their aid in rehabilitation of patients. This professional directs and participates in clinical staff meetings and interdisciplinary team meetings. Documentation is completed in accordance with the standards set forth by the Department of Correction and applicable professional standards. This position is a Gender Affirming Care Committee member and will participate in GA/GD CRC meetings as appropriate.

  • Tuberculosis (TB) is a priority health issue for DOC employees. The successful candidate may be required to provide valid proof of a baseline TB skin test within 60 days from thedate ofhire. When positive tests result further information testing and treatment will also be required. Employment is not contingent upon test results.
  • This position may be represented by a bargaining unit.
