Job Description

Context of Job:

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Delaware is seeking candidate for a postdoctoral researcher position in laboratories focused on phonological learning and speech production (PIs: Drs. Sayako Earle and Ho Ming Chow). This position is 100 research with an ample opportunity to develop teaching skill. The successful candidate will be responsible to carry out advanced neuroimaging analyses on existing fMRI data and develop new experiments using various behavioral neuroimaging and neuromodulation techniques (fMRI DTI simultaneous EEGfMRI tACS fNIRS). Salary is competitive and is set by the University rules depending on level of training. Initial appointment is for one year with possible renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and available funding. The position has a starting date of July 1 2024.

Major Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work closely with the PIs and their collaborators to perform the following duties: 1 develop behavioral experiments to study phonological learning speech production and disorders 2 collect and analyze neuroimaging (e.g. fMRI DTI and EEG) 3 assist in grant writing 4 disseminate research findings and 5 assist with training of undergraduate and graduate research assistants.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must have a PhD in speech science psychology neuroscience cognitive science engineering computer science communication sciences and disorders or a related field
  • Research experience in categorical learning and/or stuttering is preferred
  • A track record of publishing empirical research findings in peerreviewed journals
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in stimulus presentation software (e.g. EPrime)
  • Prior experience with fMRI experimental design and neuroimaging data analysis software (SPM AFNI FSL Freesurfer MRtric etc. is preferred
