    POSITION SUMMARY:
    The individual in this position will identify training needs develop and prepare collegelevel curricula and materials coordinate and deliver training courses and programs and ensure that the objectives and goals of the training are met through followup evaluations. Additionally this role will serve as an instructor for the accredited Paramedic Program. The individual may adapt procedures processes and techniques related to training within the scope of their assignments.

    This position involves performing professionallevel Basic and Advanced Emergency Medical Training under the general supervision of an administrative or technical supervisor. Key responsibilities include designing and delivering training courses utilizing online course development systems classroom simulations and other technologies. The role also encompasses curriculum development course delivery conducting needs assessments and ensuring compliance with accreditation requirements.

    CLASS DESCRIPTION:
    Performs intermediate level administrative work which may include supervisory responsibility under general supervision from an administrative or technical superior. Work includes administrative support of a functional program and professional level analysis and coordination of functional office programs and activities.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Works and cooperates with coworkers and supervisors at all levels.
    • Learns and performs all essential job functions accurately.
    • Assess design develop deliver and analyze training programs related to paramedic education using a variety of formats including classroom lecture practical labs practical scenarios and distance education formats applying excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Develop lesson plans course objectives and instructional materials.
    • Design analyze and revise course materials course curriculum course outlines tests and instructional methods using a broad medical knowledge including aspects of critical care anatomy physiology and pathophysiology.
    • Develop a wide range of instructional delivery methods including computerized presentation demonstration manikin simulation high fidelity human patient simulators Learning Management System for distance education courses and other methods as appropriate and effective.
    • Administer academic advising analyze student performance and conference with students regarding academic success.
    • Research and evaluation of current medical practices and technologies as application of information to instructional curriculum.
    • Create and manage library of instructional materials and of student materials
    • Utilize human patient simulator(s) in education initiatives and gain competency in computerized programming of medical scenarios.
    • Utilize and integrate technologies into classroom lesson plans.
    • Effectively work as a member of a team and coordinate with a large number of stakeholders and build community relations through contact with community medical professionals.
    • Maintain currency and competency in the discipline taught as well as teaching strategies and assessment methods.
    • Mentor students Bureau personnel and emergency services educators.
    • Maintain compliance with rules regulations and policies of the Howard County government and Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    This job may have supervisory responsibilities.

    MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

    Two 2 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    National Registered Paramedic(NRP).

    Ability to obtain licensure in the State of Maryland as a Paramedic.

    PREFERRED EDUCATION KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    Sufficient clinical experience as an independent provider at theParamedic level in an emergency 911)system or equivalent as judgedby the HCDFRS Bureau of Education andTraining.

    Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor status (from the American Heart Association American Safety & Health Institute or American College of Emergency Physicians) and experience as such for at least three years.

    International Trauma Life Support ITLS) or Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) Instructor status and experience as such for at least three years.

    Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Instructor status (from the American Heart Association) orPediatric Education for Prehospital Providers (PEPP) Course

    Coordination status and experience as such for at least three 3 years.

    Sufficient clinical experience as an instructor of Paramedic level material including significant experience as a lead instructor using custom material designed and developed by the applicant.

    Experience in training program and project management.

    Experience in instructional and course design.

    Experience in the use of manikinbased medical simulation training.

    Experience using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint to design develop and deliver educational material.

    Experience in performing research as it relates to current medical practices and techniques.

    Ability to effectively use timemanagement skills to cope with several simultaneous projects.

    Ability to follow standard procedures in the operation of various audiovisual media equipment.

    Ability to develop competency within one year in designing developing and delivering distance education material using the Learning Management System.

    Ability to develop competency in utilization scenario programming and basic maintenance of Patient Simulator and associated technologies.

    Experience in the use scenario programming and basic maintenance of the Simulator.

    Experience in designing developing and delivering distance education material using Learning Management Systems.

    Experience using Microsoft Excel.

    Experience using Adobe Presenter.

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.

    CERTIFICATES LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS

    Certification as an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor from the American Heart Association American Safety & Health Institute or American Red Cross

    MICRB Instructor Level 2and/orNAEMSE Instructor Level 1 (Instructor 2 preferred)
