What youll like most about working at Howard County Government:
Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Two 2 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
National Registered Paramedic(NRP).
Ability to obtain licensure in the State of Maryland as a Paramedic.
PREFERRED EDUCATION KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Sufficient clinical experience as an independent provider at theParamedic level in an emergency 911)system or equivalent as judgedby the HCDFRS Bureau of Education andTraining.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor status (from the American Heart Association American Safety & Health Institute or American College of Emergency Physicians) and experience as such for at least three years.
International Trauma Life Support ITLS) or Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) Instructor status and experience as such for at least three years.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Instructor status (from the American Heart Association) orPediatric Education for Prehospital Providers (PEPP) Course
Coordination status and experience as such for at least three 3 years.
Sufficient clinical experience as an instructor of Paramedic level material including significant experience as a lead instructor using custom material designed and developed by the applicant.
Experience in training program and project management.
Experience in instructional and course design.
Experience in the use of manikinbased medical simulation training.
Experience using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint to design develop and deliver educational material.
Experience in performing research as it relates to current medical practices and techniques.
Ability to effectively use timemanagement skills to cope with several simultaneous projects.
Ability to follow standard procedures in the operation of various audiovisual media equipment.
Ability to develop competency within one year in designing developing and delivering distance education material using the Learning Management System.
Ability to develop competency in utilization scenario programming and basic maintenance of Patient Simulator and associated technologies.
Experience in the use scenario programming and basic maintenance of the Simulator.
Experience in designing developing and delivering distance education material using Learning Management Systems.
Experience using Microsoft Excel.
Experience using Adobe Presenter.

LANGUAGE SKILLS MATHEMATICAL SKILLS AND REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest commissions proportions percentages area circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
Certification as an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor from the American Heart Association American Safety & Health Institute or American Red Cross
MICRB Instructor Level 2and/orNAEMSE Instructor Level 1 (Instructor 2 preferred)
