The UCSF Investigational Cellular Therapy (ICT) team is a highly collaborative group with diverse expertise across cell and gene therapy development manufacturing and delivery. Our GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) facility is a specialized environment where cellular products are produced in accordance with regulatory standards ensuring the safety effectiveness and quality of the cellular drug products for use in patients.
The Junior Operations Specialist will be an integral member of the Operational Team functioning under the guidance and supervision of the Operations Manager. Their responsibilities will encompass the daily maintenance upkeep and compliance of the GMP facility all while ensuring adherence to UCSFs policies regulations and safety standards. The Operations Specialist will play an active role in executing operational tasks within the UCSF Human Islet and Cellular Transplantation Facility (HICTF) a GMP facility dedicated to the manufacture of experimental cell therapies.
The Junior Specialist will serve as a point of contact for the GMP facility and will execute administrative tasks including coordinating laboratory schedules to ensure the seamless and efficient functioning of the GMP facility. They will facilitate effective communication and collaboration between affiliate groups core facilities QA QC manufacturing vendors service companies contractors and engineers.
Leveraging their expertise and experience the Junior Operations Specialist will play a vital role in the cellular therapy process development by supporting the work of cellular therapy process development and manufacturing teams. Key duties encompass the establishment and upkeep of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment techniques and safety protocols; processing order requests overseeing the receipt shipping and handling of inventory which includes materials chemicals gases and equipment; conduct daily facility checks to ensure regulatory compliance; responding to alarms; monitoring the timely completion of repair or preventive maintenance tasks; documenting all the changes as they occur. The Junior Operations Specialist will also ensure that cleaning schedules are maintained as needed based on manufacturing schedules and they will oversee the replenishment of supplies and materials all while upholding a clean and organized laboratory environment.

- Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and experience in managing laboratory safety programs
- Prior relevant laboratory experience preferably in genome and epigenome engineering cell and gene therapies or a related field
- Prior relevant laboratory experience preferably in building engineering or a related field
- Experience with data analysis tools and software for tracking laboratory trends managing data in areas such as Environmental Monitoring equipment performance building differential pressures inventory trending and other key GMP cleanroom trends.
