REPORTS TO: PAKAN SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
TERM LENGTH: 1 YEAR TERM CONTRACT: FULLTIME EMPLOYMENT
Job Summary:
Whitefish Lake First Nation #128 a Cree community in northeastern Alberta is seeking highly motivated and inspiring teachers to deliver highlevel instruction at the Pakan Elementary and Junior High School.
Key Responsibilities:
The ability to work with a variety of stakeholders such as students parents colleagues Nation leaders various department leads administration
Sound understanding of Treaty and its direct relationship with First Nation education A desire to learn the local culture and traditions
A willingness to learn participate and/or lead outdoor education learning opportunities A willingness to demonstrate healthy living
Fluency in the Cree language would be an asset
A willingness for lifelong learning
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor of Education degree with elementary generalist and relevant junior high school training
A valid Alberta Interim or Permanent Teaching Certificate
A valid TQS (teacher qualification statement)
Proficient skills in computer applications
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A current Intervention Record Check (Child and Family Services) and Vulnerable Sector Check (RCMP)
Working Conditions:
Interaction with leadership staff and community members.
Occasional evening or weekend work for meetings or events.
Understanding of Indigenous cultures language traditions and sensitivity to the needs of the community (preferred).
