Position Summary
The Intern and Lad Program Lead Coordinator (ILP) is responsible for promoting and managing the citys Mayors internship program. This role involves developing hosting and conducting information sessions with colleges and prospective employee supervisors (virtually and inperson) reviewing high volume of applications coordinating internship interviews with city agencies matching college interns with departmental internship positions and developing a comprehensive 10week internship program to include professional development orientation and career readiness and collaborating with City agencies and programs for high school internships.
Additionally this position will coordinate monthly college fairs for the Citys Returning to Learning tuition discount program. This involves regular contact and relationship building with the college partners in the program and conducting infosessions to promote the program to the Citys workforce.
Essential Functions
Program Design & Implementation:
- Design and implement the Citys internship and learning programs ensuring alignment with departmental goals and workforce needs.
- Develop and schedule programming for the 10week internship including curriculum training presenters activities and events.
- Plan and manage monthly college fairs for the Citys Returning to Learning tuition discount program.
- Collaborate with college partners to schedule and host virtual or inperson fairs.
- Ensure event logistics materials and communications are prepared in advance.
- Track attendance gather feedback and assess the success of events for continuous improvement.
Build and Maintain Relationships with College Partners
- Serve as the primary liaison between the City and participating colleges.
- Regularly connect with college representatives to strengthen partnerships and address program needs.
- Identify opportunities to expand the program by engaging new educational partners.
Serve as Liaison Between City Law Departments and Educational Institutions
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between the Citys Law Department and participating schools to address programrelated agreements approvals and inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with any legal or administrative requirements impacting the programs operations.
- Act as the central point of contact to resolve issues efficiently and maintain smooth operations.
Promote the Returning to Learning Program
- Conduct information sessions to educate the City workforce about tuition discount opportunities.
- Develop and deliver presentations outreach materials and updates to ensure employees are aware of program benefits.
- Respond to inquiries from employees and assist them in navigating program details.
Support Program Communication and Tracking
- Maintain program records event schedules and contact lists of college partners.
- Assist with creating promotional content for newsletters intranet postings and department announcements.
- Monitor program metrics such as employee participation rates to measure impact and inform future outreach strategies.
Recruitment & Onboarding:
- Oversee recruitment including posting job opportunities conducting interviews and coordinating onboarding.
- Collaborate with departments to attract diverse talent and conduct information sessions with colleges and students.
Mentorship & Professional Development:
- Create mentorship opportunities and develop workshops and training to support interns and entrylevel employee career growth ensuring meaningful development experiences.
Collaboration & Evaluation:
- Work with departments to ensure interns work experiences align with both their development and the Citys operations.
- Assess program effectiveness through feedback using data to make improvements.
Events & Networking:
- Organize networking events career fairs and workshops to connect interns with City leadership and provide career growth opportunities.
Reporting & Communication:
- Maintain communication with HR and department heads providing program updates and preparing reports on its impact.
Assist with other related duties as assigned.
Required Competencies Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge:
- Indepth knowledge of workforce development strategies internship programs and talent management.
- Familiarity with entrylevel employee recruitment and career pathways within government organizations.
- Understanding of adult learning principles and professional development strategies.
- Knowledge of how to design and implement effective training programs that align with organizational goals.
- Familiarity with project management techniques including program design implementation monitoring and evaluation.
Skills:
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor interns as well as collaborate with other teams and department leaders to ensure successful program outcomes.
- Strong organizational communication and presentation skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to create compelling presentations and reports.
- Skilled at leading group sessions and workshops for interns and employees.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
- Plan and organize tasks and projects efficiently ensuring timely completion and effective resource management.
- Identify issues and develop practical solutions to address them.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Abilities:
- Ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders including department leaders HR staff community organizations and professional networks to enhance the internship program and expand opportunities for participants.
- Ability to analyze complex issues identify challenges and develop practical solutions to improve internship and learning program effectiveness.

Qualifications :
Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration Business Administration Human Resources Education Political Science Economics or a related field.
Experience:
At least two years of experience in program coordination internship management human resources or a related area.
Preferred Experience: Alumni of the City of Philadelphia Mayors Internship Program
