Job Description

DESCRIPTION: Providing academic instruction while the teacher is unavailable. Demonstrating solid classroom management is expected. Working alongside staff in a professional learning community is crucial to continued student achievement and the implementation of the adopted district curriculum.

SALARY RANGE: $25.72 per hour.

BENEFITS: Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Ability to communicate effectively with students staff parents and community.

2. Abilities in the use of a variety of classroom management techniques and teaching strategies to create a safe learning environment

3. To work effectively with all children with varying academic emotional social and physical needs.

4. To promote parental/community involvement and learning.

5. Have experience with knowledge of skill in and support of shared decision making.

6. Demonstrated teaching abilities in core curriculum areas.

7. Ability to integrate instruction/make classcurricular connection in teaching and reading.

8. Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional learning and collaboration.

9. Skill and ability to utilize technology to aid instruction and learning

10. Teach in a classroom with a wide range of student abilities using developmentally appropriate activities for all children in the class.

11. Maintain classroom environment conductive to learning and proven ability to manage student behaviors in a positive manner.

12. Complete lessons and necessary paperwork for record keeping.

13. Have a positive attitude.

14. Work collaboratively with other teachers and paraprofessionals to facilitate an integrated instructional model.

15. Other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working area will be in a regular or special education classroom.

Physical and Environmental Requirements of the Position:

The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by a teacher to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The teacher must lift and/or move 25 to 50 pounds and may assist move or retrain students with greater weight when required to intervene in student safety issues.

While performing the duties of this job the teacher is frequently required to sit lift carry move about hear and speak. Teacher may be required to perform extensive work at a computer display terminal.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate or consistent with the subject being taught but can be abnormally loud on occasion.

While performing the duties of this job the teacher may occasionally work in outside weather conditions and be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions temperature fluctuations fumes or airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals commonly used in instruction and/or cleaning. It may be expected that the individual could be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials during the course of their duties. The teacher may be exposed to infectious disease as carried by students.

The teacher may be required to travel in school owned or leased vehicles while supervising and assisting students.
