The Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) seeks a motivated and qualified individual for the Administrative Assistant 2 (AA2 position. This role is within the Policy and Legislative AffairsDivision and is based out of our Capitol Campus Office.

About the Position

The Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) is a small but highly impactful agency of approximately 280 employees that oversees and regulates the insurance industry to protect consumers the public interest and the states economy. We ensure that insurance companies meet their financial obligations follow state and federal laws and provide fair and affordable coverage to Washington residents. Our work directly impacts the lives of consumers by investigating complaints proposing and adopting consumer protection laws overseeing insurance policy offerings and monitoring the financial health of insurance companies. We also educate the public about their insurance rights and assist them in navigating complex systems like Medicare. With our strong commitment to integrity transparency and consumer advocacy we help ensure that Washingtons insurance market remains healthy and sustainable.


We are currently seeking a detailoriented and proactive individual to join our team as an Administrative Assistant (AA2. In this role you will provide vital administrative support to the Policy and Legislative Affairs staff including coordinating meetings managing schedules arranging travel and ensuring legislative deadlines are met. Your responsibilities will also include posting updates to our website tracking legislative and rulemaking assignments and maintaining accurate records for the team.


Work Schedule and Expectations:


  • During legislative sessions this role requires a fulltime fivedayaweek presence in the office (Monday through Friday) from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • When the Legislature is not in session the position will require three days a week inoffice presence.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:


One year as an Administrative Assistant 1.


OR


Bachelors degree in business administration public administration or closely allied field AND twoyears of senior level clerical experience in office/clerical secretarial or general administrative work in a professionaloffice environment. Graduate study may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.


OR


Six 6 years of progressively responsible clerical/office secretarial or general administrative work experience in a professionaloffice environment at a senior clerical level.


If a degree or other credentials are listed proof will be required prior to employment. University degrees must be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or foreign equivalent. If a degree was awarded outside the United States candidates must provide a credential evaluation report.
