Description of Work
- This Correctional Training Instructorposition is assigned to the OSDT Central Regional Training Center located in Apex North Carolina.The position is responsible for the delivery and instruction of Inservice/PPO Training for the NCDAC Prisons and Division II of NCDAC Community Supervision. The position also supports the delivery of training and instructs in other Regions/Divisions as necessary to meet the evolving needs of the agency. The position supports Prisons CO training in accordance with Community College Consortium agreements and supports and delivers Inservice/PPO Training.This position reports to a Correction Training Coordinator and is subject to review and evaluation through reports student feedback and stakeholders.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Planning organizing and instructing blocks of training for Inservice/PPO Training Correctional Officer and/or Instructor Training for NCDAC
- Writing course plans and objectives reviewing revising and developing lesson plans and training materials
- Conducting Inservice/ PPO Training writing lesson plans and objectives reviewing existing lesson plans assisting other trainers and other instructors and writing evaluation reports
- Delivering instruction independently and instructing as a member of an instructional team in accordance with approved training materials and methodology
- Researching materials for course development developing courses strategies and objectives modifying course content and participating in evaluation of courses
This position plays a vital role in the core operations of the Department of Adult Correction directly impacting the effectiveness of its functions. Therefore the individual in this role must follow the established policies and standard operating procedures that govern fieldbased positions and that of an essential purpose identified by the Office of Staff Development and Training (OSDT). Adhering to these guidelines ensures that the specific requirements of the agency are met and that the overall mission is effectively supported.

Toqualify for this position applicants must document on the application that they possess ALLof the following:
- Possession of current General Instructor Certification
- Certification in Firearms and/or Controls Restraints Defensive Techniques (CRDT) specialty certification with the condition of attaining the remaining specialties within 12 months of the start date
- Demonstrated knowledge of procedures practices and operation of North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections
Management Preferences:- Crafting and executing PowerPoint presentations as well as creating word documents
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelors degree and two years of directly related instruction and training experience in the subject matter specialty
OR
Graduation from high school and five years of experience
