This position is located at Alexander Correctional Institution in Taylorsville North Carolina. Work in this class involves administering scoring and supervising psychological tests to inmates in a diagnostic/mental health setting. Work also involves counseling with inmates to establish the necessary rapport and attitudes that facilitate valid test results. Work may also include gathering relevant social criminal and mental health background information necessary to adequately interpret test results and prepare reports. Employees typically also have an assigned supportive counseling caseload designed to aid inmates adjustment to prison environment and their psychological functioning. Employees function as liaison with diagnostic and treatment staff and may serve on various committees relative to treatment.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) withState Benefits.

To qualify for this position applicants must document on the application that they possess the following:
Bachelor s degree in psychology or other human services field from an appropriately accredited institution with several classes in psychology or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Note: Positions being recruited specifically for diagnostics will require at least one year administering and/or conducting psychological testing.

TheDivision of Comprehensive Health Servicesis dedicated to providing evidence-based compassionate and constitutionally consistent medical care to all offenders in custody. Their goal is to ensure that all offenders receive full-spectrum medical care from the time of entry until their release. The team of physicians nurses behavioral health services dental services psychiatric services pharmacy services and licensed healthcare administration services work together to provide emergent acute routine and chronic health care as well as preventive medicine at all prison facilities. They also coordinate with specialists and other clinical consultants outside of prisons throughout the state to ensure comprehensive health and well-being towards a safe transition from prison improving public health and decreasing recidivism.
