Job Description

Your responsibilities

The Technology Department at CERN is responsible for the development operation and maintenance of key accelerator hardware including systems such as cryogenics vacuum surface treatment magnets and machine protection. Within this department the Safety Team plays a vital role in ensuring occupational health and safety safeguarding the wellbeing of staff collaborators and the surrounding environment.

As a Junior Safety Support Officer your responsibilities will include carrying out safety risk assessments for a range of technological processes evaluating the conformity of prototype devices and machinery and developing appropriate compensatory safety measures. You will also be expected to follow up on recommended actions and ensure thorough documentation of all findings. During your time at CERN the accelerators will be operational and your primary focus will be the assessment of safety aspects related to activities taking place within CERNs technical buildings.

Your profile

Skills

  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety;
  • Understanding of technical analysis methods;
  • Experience in producing safety documentation.

The following experience would be an advantage:

  • Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies;
  • Practical experience with content management systems (CMS) like Drupal or WordPress;
  • Knowledge of Directive 2006/42/CE (Machinery Directive).

Language requirement:

Spoken and written French with a commitment to learn English.

Contract duration: 24 months with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

Working hours: 40 hours per week
