Job Description
The School District of Cape Girardeau is seeking dedicated Teacher Assistants.
The Teacher Assistant is responsible for helping to promote a positive and creative learningenvironment in which students feel cared for respected and excited to participate; assisting the assigned classroom teacher in all aspects of the program working with the recess program attending scheduled meetings and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma and have completed the approved DESE Substitute Training or
- At least 60 hours of college credit
- Possess/willing to obtain a valid Missouri substitute certification
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding studentinformation and records
- Ability to take direction from lead teacher andsupervisors
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability regardingstudent and building needs
- Willingness to work with small groups of students orwith students onetoone
- Ability and willingness to teamteach and/or coteachwith a lead teacher or regular classroom teachers
- Possession of excellent verbal and writtencommunication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and positively withstudents teachers supervisors and parents
- Willingness to demonstrate support for classroomteacher and the school culture
- Willingness and ability to work with atrisk students
