Job Description

Title: School Psychologist

Report To: Director of Special Education

Length of Contract: Negotiated School Calendar and Inservice hours per the current MasterAgreement beginning 202425

Employment Status: Union Exempt

Qualifications:

  1. Masters Degree in School Psychology
  2. Satisfy the requirements of Special Education Rules

  3. Driving may be necessary for this position which would require a valid drivers license.

General Description:Provide consultation to teachers and families psychological counselingstudent assessment crisis intervention and other direct services to children with learning behavioral and emotional problems and theirfamilies. Provide preventive services to improve the climate for learning.Work with classroom teachers to develop a behavior management planfor an individual student or for an entire class.

Essential Functions:

  1. Provide accurate evaluation and diagnosis of disabled children.
  2. Provide consultation services and interpretation of psychological test

    results and observations in a meaningful manner to those persons authorized to receive consultation.
  3. Avail themselves of the opportunity to maintain and upgrade their skills.

  4. Evaluate and assess individual students using a variety of psychologicaland educational tests to determine the functional ability of individuals interms of intelligence educational achievement attitude and interest.

  5. Effectively communicate test results in terms of written reports to schoolsin order to assist schools to provide a full and complete educationalprogram for disabled children.

  6. Provide consultive services to students parents administrators teachers and other interested agencies in a variety of subjects relating to psychological services programs and practices.

  7. Participate as a member of the diagnostic team and assigned IEP Teammeeting when requested.

  8. Participate in and provide in service training when required.

  9. Coordinate with all interested agencies and individuals in order to ensure that each person is afforded an opportunity to reach his full potential.

  10. Complete all required written reports and billings in a timely fashion

  11. Must have regular and reliable attendance.

  12. All other similar duties as assigned.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as a positive role model for DIISD constituents demonstration how to be a responsible citizen and productive member of society.
  2. Adhere to DIISD Code of Ethics.
  3. Ability to carry out other associated duties as assigned by administration

Additional Working Conditions:

  1. Occasional exposure to blood bodily fluid and tissue.
  2. With reimbursement may be required to use personal vehicle toperform job related functions.
