Initially built to take the pain out of peertopeer payments Cash App has gone from a simple product with a single purpose to a dynamic ecosystem developing unique financial products including Afterpay/Clearpay to provide a better way to send spend invest borrow and save to our 50 million monthly active customers. The Role
Cash Apps mission is to instantly available and universally accessible all the products and features weve released in the app are based on those principles. Lending is one of the newest Cash App products and were looking for a Senior Software Engineering Manager to join this team and help deliver on our vision of economic empowerment.
Lending offers Cash App users lowfriction access to money without prohibitive repayment terms and the Lending Engineering team is focused on building the complex systems and tooling to support access and availability. Within Lending the Product engineering team focuses on building the products and platforms that help deliver this access and credit to our customers at scale. Were looking for people who are as excited about our mission as they are about the technical challenges we have.
As an Engineering Manager of the Lending Product backend engineering team you will lead your team in developing and improving Cash Apps credit products for our customers. Working closely with product managers and designers youll drive the teams vision and roadmap to extend and expand credit access for Cash App customers.

You Will
- Partner closely with product design engineering operations and business leads to evolve your teams vision and roadmap by thoroughly understanding your customers needs
- Build and manage a worldclass team by hiring qualified candidates coaching engineers and shaping the team to scale with the needs of the business
- Lead and participate in critical technical design and product discussions with leaders across the organization
- Foster ownership inclusiveness psychological safety accountability and urgency in the team
- Provide mentorship to other members of the team
- Hold your teammatesand yourselfto high engineering standards through cultivating pragmatic engineering decisionmaking and leveraging your technical expertise to constantly raise the bar
- You Have
- 12 years working on complex systems and delivering quality software
- 4 years experience managing teams
- Strong expertise in backend and distributed systems
- Demonstrated excellence in delivering organizationally important projects setting strategic vision for teams and evolving their teams to maximize flexibility impact and reliability.
- Track record of growing engineering teams and keeping engineers motivated and engaged.
- A history of healthy collaboration with product managers engineers and other engineering managers on developing roadmaps and executing against them
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders
- Strong selfmotivation to learn and grow
- Eagerness to share your own ideas and openness to those of others
- An interest in working on a product that impacts people/businesses directly
- BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
