Job Description

This particular positions teaching assignments includes a combination of elective classes and potential ELA courses based on need in the master schedule for theschool year. This position may include intervention classes in addition to the teacher being able to create elective courses based on interests and strengths of the teacher as well as interests of the students. A current MO teaching certificate is required.

The Primary Responsibility of a classroom teacher is to create a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth.

Term of Employment:based on district calendar

Responsible to: Building Administrator

Qualifications: Current valid Missouri Certification (any secondary content area)

The Secondary Teacher Performance Responsibilities include:

  1. Teaching courses and electives usingappropriate learning activities to pupils in a classroom using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education.
  2. Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
  3. Develops lesson plans instructional materials and provides individual and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the individual student.
  4. Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize available time for instruction.
  5. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  6. Evaluates pupils academic and social growth keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
  7. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss the pupils progress and interpret the school program.
  8. Identifies the pupils needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health attitude and learning problems.
  9. Creates an environment for learning.
  10. Maintains professional competence through inservice education activities provided by the district and selfselected growth activities
  11. Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids. Maintains required inventory records.
  12. Supervises students in outofclassroom activities as assigned.
  13. Administers group standardized tests in accordance with the districts testing program.
  14. Participates in curriculum development programs as required.
  15. Participates in faculty meetings committees and sponsorship of student activities.
  16. Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
  17. Complies with good safety practices.
  18. Complies with all district rules regulations and policies.

Other duties and responsibilities deemed necessary may be assigned.
