Job Description

We are looking for someone who is committed to fundraising for youwillprovide fundraising for our Northern California region supporting and working with team members from our offices in Sacramento CA Reno NV and Sierra Nevada Journeys Outdoor Education Camp near Portola CA. Fundraising for Sierra NevadaJourneys means you are buildingaccess tooutdoorand STEMeducation programsforlocalstudents (both Nevada and California) whose families have traditionally faced financial barriers to participation in quality STEM education programs.

This position reports to the Director of Advancement and works collaboratively with colleagues on the fundraising team. The Advancement Officer will manage and advance a donor portfolio and build strong and positive relationships with individual donors and businesses in the Sacramento area to solicit gifts and provide stewardship. The Advancement Officer will support colleagues in creating and implementing short and longterm development strategies that focus on establishing new annual and major donors who are excited about Sierra Nevada Journeys mission and the children we serve.

To achieve this vision we focus on building sustainable partnerships with schools and communities that serve the youth who have the least access to highquality science education and outdoor learning experiences. We invite continuous voice from these partners and the youth and families they serve to inform how we design and deliver culturally relevant and inclusive programs. AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Advancement Officer will play a key role in growing and stewarding annual and major giving in the greater Sacramento region and surrounding areas served by Sierra Nevada Journeys. This position will focus on cultivating and managing relationships with donors and corporate partners to support the Student Scholarship Fund educational programs and the Capital Fund for the Outdoor Education Camp. Working collaboratively as part of the Advancement Team the Advancement Officer will help develop and implement fundraising strategies manage donor engagement activities and oversee a portfolio of donors and prospects. The position is based out of the Sacramento office alongside the Advancement Coordinator Senior Education Director and regional Educators.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Donor Cultivation & Major Gifts Fundraising

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of 75 individual donors and corporate partners with a focus on gifts of $5000 and above.
  • Cultivate and steward donor relationships through personal outreach meetings and tailored engagement strategies.
  • Support the development and of solicitation stewardship and recognition plans for key donors.
  • Work closely with the Director of Advancement to implement donor solicitation strategies ensuring alignment with overall fundraising goals.

2. Corporate and Business Engagement

  • Identify and introduce Sierra Nevada Journeys to businesses and corporate partners to expand corporate sponsorship opportunities.
  • Develop and execute strategies to engage corporate donors including sponsorships employee giving and volunteer engagement.

3. Donor Communications & Stewardship

  • Draft and personalize solicitation proposals thankyou letters gift acknowledgments and donor updates.
  • Collaborate with the Advancement Team and Marketing Team to create fundraising collateral and donor engagement materials.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of Sierra Nevada Journeys programs funding priorities and impact to effectively communicate with donors.

4. Donor Engagement Events

  • Plan and coordinate small donor engagement events to strengthen relationships and increase donor investment.
  • Assist with the logistics and of fundraising events working in collaboration with the Advancement Team.

5. Fundraising Operations & Reporting

  • Track donor engagement activities and maintain uptodate donor records in the CRM/database.
  • Assist in generating fundraising reports and tracking progress toward revenue goals.
  • Ensure donor data integrity by monitoring contact updates and donor preferences.

6. Capital Campaign & Special Projects

  • Participate in Sierra Nevada Journeys upcoming Capital Campaign assisting in donor identification cultivation and campaignrelated outreach.
  • Support other fundraising initiatives as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

  • TheAdvancementOfficerreportstotheDirector ofAdvancementwithroomforgrowthina Development Director role.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelorsdegreeinbusinessmarketingorclosely relatedfieldorsimilarexperience.
  • Experience in a fundraising role demonstrating success in donor cultivation and stewardship closing majorgiftscampaignmanagementaswellasknowledgeofdevelopmenttechniquesmoves managementprinciplesand fundraising ethics.
  • Proficiencywithadevelopmentdatabase.
  • Excellentwrittenand oralcommunicationskills.
  • ThisjobwillrequiresometravelbetweenRenoSacramentoandPortola(rarelyovernight).

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • CompetitiveCompensationof$70000 $80000 annually

  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish or other languages that support our programs; a differential of an additional 3 added to your annual salary.
  • Earnedpaidtimeoff starting from the first day of employment. PTO is accrued per pay period at the rate of 12 days per year.
