Job Description
Position Overview:
Sugar Creek Charter Schools mission is to eradicate generational poverty by providing a rigorous college and career preparatory education for students from kindergarten through 12th grade focusing on academic preparation college and career readiness and life skills for success. We are seeking a missionaligned passionate and dedicated 7th Grade Math Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will foster a deep understanding of mathematical concepts implement engaging and rigorous instruction and support the academic and socialemotional growth of all students.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Classroom Management:
- Develop and implement standardsaligned lesson plans that build student mastery in ratios proportional reasoning expressions equations geometry and probability.
- Use datadriven instruction to assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Create a structured and engaging classroom culture that encourages problemsolving critical thinking and mathematical reasoning.
- Utilize differentiation strategies to support students at varying levels of mathematical understanding.
- Incorporate technology handson activities and realworld applications to enhance student learning.
Student Support & Engagement:
- Build strong relationships with students and maintain high academic and behavioral expectations.
- Implement socialemotional learning (SEL) strategies to support student wellbeing and classroom engagement.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress strengths and areas for growth.
- Ensure the safety of students at all times through consistent supervision and by following and implementing the schoolwide behavior plan.
Collaboration & Professional Growth:
- Embrace a growth mindset by actively seeking and applying feedback to enhance instructional practices and student learning outcomes.
- Participate in planning and coaching sessions with curriculum leaders.
- Work closely with gradelevel teams instructional coaches and support staff to enhance student learning.
- Actively engage in professional development and seek opportunities for continuous growth.
- Contribute to the school community through team meetings committees and events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mathematics Education or a related field (required).
- Valid teaching license or eligibility for licensure in North Carolina (preferred).
- Experience teaching middle school math or related coursework (preferred but not required).
- Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to high expectations for all students.
- Passion for urban education and a commitment to closing the achievement gap.
