Job Description

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

SpeechLanguage Pathologist Assistant(SLPA)

Special Services DistrictWide position

7.00 hours per day /180 days per year

Shift time is subject to building needs.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Communication Technician Apprenticeship Program certification or certificate of proficiency S.L.P.A. or AAAS Degree.
  3. Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  4. Accurate and efficient at completing tasks on time without close supervision.
  5. Ability to relate in a positive manner with students parents and staff/teachers.
  6. Must be able to work effectively with small groups or individual students under the supervision of certificated staff.
  7. Willingness to work at multiple school sites.
  8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find acceptable.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist the Speech Language Pathologist in screening procedures.
  2. Carry out individual treatment plans as set up by the SLP without direct supervision.
  3. Perform ongoing documentation of students performance and progress as well as maintain/organize students records.
  4. Attend meetings as directed.
  5. Previous instruction and experience with speech and language disabilities are preferred.
  6. Knowledge of the educational and social impact of speech and language disabilities is preferred.
  7. Understands all aspects of Individual Education Programs for students.
  8. Ability to work cooperatively with a team of professionals and parents in implementing Individual Education Programs.
  9. Travel as needed.
  10. Communicates with appropriate staff and students caretakers to accomplish job duties.
  11. Assist Speech/Language department with purchasing equipment and supplies.
  12. Willingness to receive training as needed.
