About the opportunity

The University of Tasmania is seeking a dedicated Senior Workplace Relations Consultant to join our People and Wellbeing team. This role is pivotal in providing strategic and operational advice on workplace relations ensuring compliance with our staff agreement and fostering a positive workplace environment. You will work closely with the Director Workplace Relations offering expert advice on policy and procedural matters and contributing to the professional development of our team. What youll do:

  • Provide expert advice consulting and solutions across a range of workplace relations matters ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and governance instruments.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of the Universitys enterprise bargaining strategy and provide expert advice and assistance with enterprise bargaining negotiations
  • Oversee and manage the implementation of the Universitys staff agreement ensuring adherence to all commitments and obligations throughout the life of the agreement.
  • Offer strategic advice on complex workplace relations matters guiding effective resolutions that minimize risk and maintain positive relations.
  • Contribute to the design and development of program content for professional development initiatives.
  • Represent the University at Fair Work Commission hearings effectively advocating for the Universitys interest and ensuring a professional approach to resolving workplace matters.

What were looking for:

  • Deep technical expertise in Workplace Relations legislation with a broad knowledge base of contemporary HR practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate employment frameworks policies and procedures into practical applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in liaising with staff at all levels unions and other third parties with demonstrated experience negotiating effective outcomes consultation and facilitation of group discussions.
  • Proven ability to represent and advocate before various industrial tribunals and commissions
  • Agility and strong desire to develop lead and implement a broad range of employment related projects as required across the University.
  • Sound leadership and influencing skills including the ability to negotiate motivate influence and build relationships with others across the organisation.
  • High level of selfmanagement including the ability to work under pressure and achieve outcomes.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 8 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $147034 pro rata. This will comprise base salary within the range of $110524 to $125670 pro rata plus 17 superannuation.
