CARPENTER (TEMPORARY)

Job Function:

• Reports to the Maintenance Manager or designate
• Performs a variety of skills and other tasks related to maintenance and repair of school district buildings grounds and equipment under minimum supervision
• Performs carpentry assignments ranging from minor repairs through to skilled journeyman work of design and manufacture of a variety of items
• Repairs such items as doors windows floors walls ceilings etc.
• Builds and/or assist in the construction of offices classrooms furniture etc.
• May involve the coordination of work including the assignment of work and personnel
• May include the maintenance of work quality and accuracy
• May be responsible for providing direction to other trades
• Assists other trades as required
• Other related duties as required

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 graduation
• BC or Interprovincial Certificate of Qualification in Carpentry (TQ)
• Valid BC drivers license
• Ability to perform a standard of workmanship at a tradesmans level
• Thorough and uptodate knowledge of the standard practices methods materials tools and equipment of the trade
• Skill in the use of tools and equipment of the trade
• Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions
• Ability to plan and carry out an effective work schedule with a minimum of supervision
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff students and the community

Hours of Work & Salary:

• 40 hours per week Monday Friday 7:00a.m. to 3:30p.m.
  
• Temporary Assignment ending August 29 2025 with possibility of extension
• $40.70per hour $40.70 base rate plus $0.50 per hour Labour Market Adjustment)
